Holy cow, I like the look of the countryside in these Australian screenshots from you guys. Grand sweeping vistas and relatively sparse vegetation which make it possible to run the game at high settings I would imagine.

It depends on which part of the country. We have everything from sandy deserts to tropical rain-forests. There are places where the railway crosses hundreds of kilometres of flat terrain on dead straight track, no distant hills and no vegetation larger than small bushes. My current project is set in the semi arid region of the Australian Outback where the soil is dark red (due to a high concentration of iron oxide or "rust"), much darker than I have depicted in my shots above, and the vegetation is sparse but still present.

@H222 screenshots look like the grain growing region on the plains a few 100kms west of where I live. Much of the natural vegetation would have been cleared for planting crops.
@hewi12 screenshots are of a now abandoned network of coal lines (South Maitland Railways) in a coastal region just north of here, so far wetter and with more vegetation.

I keep my performance settings in the moderate to high range as I do have areas of very high detail - such as towns.
