Thanks. But the praise should really go to Natvander for designing such a detailed yet simple to replicate texture styling. Because of the simplicity I am able to create large sections relatively quickly, with great effectiveness.

Can you give us novice routebuilders a quick run down of how the system works? Currently I just scatter about 5 or 6 different textures around randomly and then blanket with my base texture as per the "fill grid" option.

Is there an easier way?

Junee's roundhouse was 120', specifically for turning garratts (IIRC). The same reason I placed it on my layout.

Ah, forgot about Junee. Not gotten down there on my gunzel travels, although when it's warmer and I have a week off...

The idea behind Murray being so complex is so to use it as a sorting yard. So it needs the facilities to handle the largest possible combinations.

Fair call actually, I've only ever done that in off-map staging areas though :P

Cheers mate!

This is what happens when you let your 6 year old brother chose your trains:hehe:

It is a rural branchline that runs FA,NR And there was some frieghtcorp not photographed.

OMG! 422's!

When can we expect to see these released?
Also Davido, is it possible you could make a mockup reskin of the modern grain hoppers into Manildra's MGFH colours? Then I could make the Manildra flour train to Bomaderry hauled by ARG loco's. :)

Should be released soon and I may be modeling the flour hoppers in the near future. I don't like mockup's. :)

Cheers
David

I start with the baseboard texture, then add the main colours of cliffs, fields, beaches, rail-yards etc.

Then I choose a collection of textures to overlap the base textures, at least 3. If the base colour is bright make sure your overlap textures progressively get darker, and visa-versa. Make sure you always lay them in the same order to keep the constancy.

The only other thing I can suggest is to practice fast tapping on your mouse button to get a smooth join between textures.

Sounds like a plan... a plan that I am all for.

If you need the blueprints give me a yell. ;)

Fantastic news on both counts. Cheers Davido. And keep sharing those screenies, if it's not too much trouble! Always keeps us on the edge of our seats :P

Okay, I'll give that method a try next layout I do, thanks for sharing :)

Ghostryder, up to your usual high standard. A couple of questions:

1. What is the KUID of those cattle trucks your 59 is hauling, and do they load and unload, or are they just "loaded" and "unloaded" models?
2. May I ask why you used a QLD level crossing?

Fantastic work mate, looking forward to more screenies.

i used the QR crossings as i was going to make it a QR route but when i saw nats signals i opted to give em a go and started using nsw items. i know they are not the right crossing but i wanted a decent crossing with boom gates.

Cheers

Fair call then. I can't get Nats signals to work, I've downloaded them all, but they don't show up in the menu. Any trick with them?

Cheers!

Are you talking about the Semaphores? Because the modern signals come standard with TRS2006, and they work fine.

Yeah, talking about Natvanders 06 Semaphores, the ones on the DLS. I'll download them again, see if that helps any, but I don't see them in the menu.

Separate post because of the seperate subject matter (ie, actually posting screenshots):

Done some more work today on my layout, mostly at "Langtree" Station, the station closest to the junction of the branch to "Wylar". Further south is another branch line (not to be modelled), and freight trains from Wylar will come here to pick up the wagons from that branch, before continuing on again north, and then on to Sydney eventually.

I took some screenshots while testing a couple of things. I've only done the texturing for the area around the town - the section between here and the junction of the branch is still not done, nor is the foilage, highways, etc. Pretty much only done the track and signalling.

Shots taken about 6am, game time.

Ready to depart...

4812, having brought the branch train into the station, has a crew change while she waits for her next job.

Taken from the end of the private, rarely used (everything is slowly moving to road transport) siding for the industry to the south of the town.

4811 stands ready with 47xx to haul the train north, towards Sydney. At the next station ("Bunta", yet to be built), it will likely pick up some more branch line freight, before heading north east to the junction with the Main South Line, before continuing on to Junee or Goulburn, where the locos will likely be replaced by larger motive power, their train combined with other pickup goods.
