Australian screenshots

Actually, it was almost identical to the situation that Gordon got himself into in one of the Thomas stories (The TV show was close, loco runs off turntable into swamp...).

That was my first thought when I saw that pic. Now all you need is the schoolboys singing "Silly old Gordon fell in a ditch, fell in a ditch, fell in a ditch. Silly old Gordon fell in a ditch, all on a Monday morning"

I didn't know locos were designed to go through lakes.:p

I've got a pic somewhere of two C32's on a long goods being pushed through a flooded lake by a D53.

Haha, classic! I loved that episode when I was a kid. I can't believe you remembered exactly what the boys were singing!

Natvander: I just did a little searching and came across this:

Is this still available anywhere? Also do you have a complete RUB set? Or is this and the candy liveried version just a one off?

I'm not Nat, but perhaps I can help?

Judging from the bogies, that seems to be quite an old model, and I would suspect is superceded by the "SFS Trial" car we have avaliavle now. I remember when it was made avaliable that it was sort of a "public test", until the rest of the set including power van were made avaliable.

I assumed that the "Countrylink" and original "Indian Red" liveries would be made avaliable as seperate models when the final set of coaches was completed.

However, the SFS Trial Car was released a while ago, and that screenshot definatly predates it, so I could be way off the mark.

Even if I am not, I too am very interested in those cars, as I have long wanted to play with them for that brief reprive that loco-hauled passenger trains had!

Gasp!!! :udrool:

Ghost!!! What's the KUID on those cattle wagons (BCW)?????

PLEASE!? :D

Rai: Thanks. Hopefully they're lingering around a dark corner waiting to come out and play.

you never cease to amaze me david, everytime i see yours and nats screenies i cannot help but :udrool:. looking forward to that little beauty. great job.

Cheers

Ghosty

pfft, show off:p Ditch lights aren't on either, dunno what you were thinking Dave, must of been the grog:hehe:

OMG! 422's!

When can we expect to see these released?
Also Davido, is it possible you could make a mockup reskin of the modern grain hoppers into Manildra's MGFH colours? Then I could make the Manildra flour train to Bomaderry hauled by ARG loco's. :)

Davido, is that a 422 class I spy (with my curious eye)? Looks nice :D. I also like the hoppers, we've long needed some decent SRA-era grain hoppers!

I actually went down to Unanderra to try and snap the morning flour train, usually hauled by one of more ex-422 class locos, but it had shown up over an hour early and had already buggered off...

Would be nice to recreate it in my routes, and arrive on time, so as to let the gunzels get all the photos they want :D.

Keep sharing, please, it's like sugar to us!

Interesting that you say that Rai. Lately I've been working on a merge of Nat's routes Wadalbavale line and Branchline 2C. The North and South ends have been joined with a large station between them, named Murray, which features a 120' turntable, large loco facilities and 3 portals disguised in long carriage sheds. The yard loops are the longest on the layout so you can fit any train in them to rest. Also featured are goods sidings which have been cleverly fitted with distance markers for the loop sizes at each station to help you build your consist to the max possible size for your session.

I haven't incorporated my usual attention to scenery detail (ie grasses etc) because I'd like to keep the layout looking as smooth and flowing as Nat's style allows.

The idea behind the layout was to get wheat/grain/flour trains from the large terminus station at 2C down the hills to Wadalbavale, much like the prototype Manildra run to Bomaderry/Nowra.

Having the Main Line a large constant running circle also allows lots of traffic to endure as you make your way to and from each branch.

I'll post some pics of progress soon. Hopefully when completed Nat will give my permission to upload it. :)

Sounds really good, JAMEZ001. I too am working on a project similar in intent, but different in desgin. Mine is a short, very rural branch line in the corner of the world, set in the mid to late 1980's, and features a fictional cross country mainline between Sydney and Adelade. Being close to the Victorian Border, I also plan on having a long branch (ie, a portal) into Victoria, with a V/line connection station.

However, thats all miles away, currently, it's a small branch with a couple of towns (in the tradition of pioneer branches, one is merely a platform with a shack to serve 3 houses and a corner store, with a single loop siding for one wagon to be loaded/unloaded). There will be a couple of branches, with the mainline being controlled by portals and the AI running the odd 81 Class-hauled express container service, and the odd coal train perhaps by older rolling stock.

The grain hoppers would be excellent, as I have a grain unloaded and a flour mill, so the 48's would benefit from some nice things to haul around. The ex-422 (or "22 Class" as I think they are under ARG) would be nice to run in the more modern version of the layout.

Also, a thought occours. I imagine Davido is planning a SRA Indian Red/Reverse/Candy version of the 422/22, but I wonder if he is planning a 442s class also? I've snapped at least one of those choking the sky with smog on the main north before, and they look alright in Silverton livery.

Probably the class that has had the most amount of different liveries. :hehe: And now they're chopping them up into RL's (I think).

Anyway, here's some screens of the progress on Wad-2C.

Ex-South Loops, now a 60kph cutting and over the river into some farm land.

Here is the sort of detail to be expected in the final version. This is just an experiment with colours, so I will go over everything with a fine tooth comb when when I am happy with the majority.

The Ex-North Loops, now wind along a long left sweeper into the mountains. On the other side is the town of Murray. (Ground textures not completed.)

Loco Facilities at Murray. (Still undergoing the planning stage.) 5% complete.

North of Murray is the 2C Branch, which meanders up the hills.

You will notice I've kept Natvanders track style as opposed to my own to keep the same flowing feeling. Track work is also underway on all the 2C lines to upgrade the styles.

Some very consistent (and as a result, excellent) scenery work there. I am really impressed by the early texturing, as well as tree placement and whatnot.

I've not seen a roundhouse that big in Sydney, let alone on a country line!

Thanks. But the praise should really go to Natvander for designing such a detailed yet simple to replicate texture styling. Because of the simplicity I am able to create large sections relatively quickly, with great effectiveness.

Junee's roundhouse was 120', specifically for turning garratts (IIRC). The same reason I placed it on my layout.

The idea behind Murray being so complex is so to use it as a sorting yard. So it needs the facilities to handle the largest possible combinations.
