ARHS Qld 1964 Farewell Tour to Southport & Nerang & Other Updates

Hello Everyone,

Well, finally got the chance to recreate this historic tour on my route, and thanks to the assistance to captainkman for correcting the superscripting of the ARHS Queensland board from the 1960s until 1980s. It compliments well with the period destination textures. Please enjoy

Also proud to mention that my SAR SMC 'Coffee Pot' has been uploaded to the download station and will be released shortly along with some TGR C/CC & SAR Y/Yx NG steam locomotives. I thank those who have assisted in the creation and testing these models - sarail, narrowgauge, electro and rastis. Hats off to you gentlemen. :)

With Regards

Hi Pinza,

You can actually go much higher and use LOD's to bring it down, the 7Ton I Wagon is about 14k Polys and the next LOD drops it to 5k then the next drops it to around 2k.

Cheers.

R 491 waits in the siding with a timber train while someone photographs from the platform.

Doors still need more work, but their bodies are pretty much done.

Cheers.

G'day Aaron, they're looking good but there is something niggling at me about the textures that get to me a lot. Where the planks meet at the join you have a shadow, but rather than this shadow be darker and preferably black the way you have applied the colour makes it a more saturated red/brown. if you apply you textures in photoshop you might want to experiment with the layer options, this is a problem that often occurs when switching it to a 'colour' layer. I have a combination I use when reskinning from a PSD; I paint the appropriate pieces of the texture on a new layer with a normal brush then switch this layer to 'soft light'. I then copy the black and white layer with the shadows and move it over the soft light layer then switch it to 'multiply' and turn down the opacity to about 70%. You can experiment with these and other layer options, but it should prevent that saturated shadow and leave a darker coloured shadow instead, much more realistic :)

Cheers
Stevo

Hi Steve,

I do all skins on separate layers, so Red will be one layer, black will be another, text on another layer and so on, I used the Wagon Red for the shadows and use colour burn.

Hey all,

Getting close to a 1956 Harris Motor, I struggled over time trying to get the body to curve right and I think I have it.

Hi Tom,

That paint looks nice.

Hi Mick,

Is that P Class the recent update? don't tell me I buggered up the bogies again on the LOD's :(

I know their was a couple that needed reset x-forms but that's only on the motor gearboxes.

Cheers.

I'm pretty sure when I looked at your screenshot I saw some black around the frames beside axleboxes, probably the angle of the screenshot making it look like that.

Cheers.
