Some pics of DD586 with an up evening goods from Healesville, with a mix of timber loading and general goods. The train was a 'roadside' goods, stopping at various stations to pickup wagons.

DD586 shunts at Healesville to assemble the evening goods to Melbourne.

Still shunting it's train, DD586 sets back with a rake of wagons loaded with timber and logs.

Having completed shunting, and a brake test, the DD slowly works it's train out of Healesville.

Having left Healesville, the DD class loco works hard on it's way up the grade to the tunnel.

The sun reflects off the well worn paintwork on the DD as it steams across the Tarrawarra floodplain.

Steaming along toward Yarra Glen in the fading light.

After picking up a few wagons, and leaving a few timber wagons due to excessive train weight, the DD steams across the start of the 1.5 mile long Yarra Flats bridge as it departs Yarra Gle.

Just outside Yering, DD586 negotiates the much photographed humped bridge.

Continued next post:

Under moonlight, DD586 and a 'New' R class prepare for departure.

The two locos are working hard to get their train over the crest at Cave Hill, with the quarry in the background.

Having blasted through Mooroolbark, the two locos are again working hard to get their train up the grade to Dorset Road where they will then coast down into Croydon.
