Guy, glad to see you recreating this because :) As you clearly already know, the first South Brisbane terminus was near the Dry Dock in Stanley Street and the Melbourne Street terminus opened in December 1891. As Southport opened 1889, the early Southport trains were South Brisbane [Dry Dock], not Melbourne Street services. Nerang to Tweed route post-date Melbourne Street.

hi guy, petan

while walking along the kangaroo point cliffs i saw a couple of old fellers looking for something all around the part that's under the freeway.
i sat on a boulder and listened and they were looking for a railtrack that used to run along there

has either of you heard of a rail line along what is now the cliffs walk down the bottom?

thanks
ron

G'day!

All of a sudden, I cannot post screenshots, smileys or even links. Spell check seems to work and it never has done before. Letters also appear to skip sometimes. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Cheers!

Jake.

I should have asked what browser you use. IE10/11 cause no end of issues with websites. Where I work in IT we have blocked the update on all our computers and still using IE9.
I prefer using Google Chrome at home & at work.
Glad you have got it fixed but!

Cheers

ARHS Bulletin back copy DVD set 1937 to 1990s available for purchase from ARHS nsw. Look for the following articles;

THE SUBURBAN RAILWAYS OF BRISBANE
Knowles, JW

This extensive article covers the entire Brisbane suburban system at the height of steam in the 1950s. Detailed track diagrams are provided for the suburban passenger lines from Brisbane to Ipswich, Shorncliffe, Petrie, Ferny Grove, Pinkenba, Exhibition Loop, and South Brisbane to Kingston and Lota, drawn by CC Singleton. The track and stations on all the above lines and to Beenleigh, Cleveland and Caboolture are described individually with details of operations. The goods lines (Bulimba branch, and Wooloongabba (with diagrams) and Redbank-Bundamba loop, Dinmore to New Chum Colliery, Tivoli branch, Abattoirs and SEA Powerhouse) are covered, also the 1435 mm gauge line south from South Brisbane briefly. Nothside and southside passenger and goods services are treated, with details of running times and speeds, carriage working, exhibition and other special services, plus locos, railmotors, comparison with Sydney electrics, competition and plans for quadruplication, and electrification.

35 photos, 3 maps, 107 diagrams. Article is continued in Bn 317 Mar 1964 pp 47-57, Bn 318 Apr 1964 pp 69-76, Bn 319 May 1964 pp 91-9, Bn 320 Jun 19614 pp 112-20, Bn 321 Jul 1964 pp 121-9, Bn 322 Aug 1964 pp 150-5, and Bn 323 Sep 1964 pp 166-75. Corrections appear in Bn 327 Jan 1965 pp 18-9.

Ghosty had a few screen shots of the Sth Brisbane wharves recently. Have enjoyed recent screen shots from all the different parts of Australia. Recognize the areas in Patchy and Guy's work :) :)

G'day!

Pofig's 3D trees are good for pine plantations. 3D1_Pg_SLD_EL4 series are particularly good.

Cheers!

Jake.
