question about route size

l
this may sound stupid, but
how many squares do you leave out each side of the train line?

i went for a small drive from the Dugandan end and i think that i have way too many out each side

thanks
ron

Hi Ron,
It's a feel thing,up to you
Three baseboards either side should be plenty
You might want to ask Geophil to see if the TransDem layers might be your problem
I do my TransDem maps without these layers

Patchy

As Greg Cash explained; This is an altered version with black footplate/running boards. What do you think ?
Sometimes the drawings are a manufacturers ideal but a photo of 67 in 1884 (Loco in the Tropics Vol1) definitely shows the lining as in the diagram and a light edge to the running board.

I hadn't given my opinion yet, but personally I would be leaning more toward the previous, your thoughts ?

Cheers

Looks fantastic Marty! A true credit to you and Greg. This should be payware. I'd happily give $$ for this beauty. As long as there was a 3'6" version :)

The official colour of the DD-17s was midway blue, the class ran around in Royal Blue with Red Trim Black with red trim, when DD-17 1051 was displayed at Redbank it wore a caledonian blue which is similiar to the blue MSTSNoodle used, the oversight of the wrong colour was corrected once removed for restoration from redbank.

Thanks to the following; Zec, TheWaluigiKing, Curtis & Kent for questions and compliments.

Trying to keep my head above the water glug glug! ;) I've informed Greg of reverting the model back to it's former glory (texture wise), there are a few things to tidy up before release.

Cheers

Ghosty,

The blue is just fine. not worried by it. The black shading does not enhance the model, however. It makes it...err...not nice.

Kieran.

Hi Mary, and Greg
That looks much better! :) Accentuates the footplate from the green parts very nicely now :)

Regards

That's quite contrary of you Zec. :hehe:

A12 no. 11 locomotive built by Baldwin (USA) for the Central Railway, Rockhampton, 1878.

My apologies, although it's a side elevation B&W image showing the side board in a lighter variant, can't say how the front footplate would have appeared.

Marty :)

Kieran, I have to strongly disagree with you again. As Aaron said it adds realism and strongly enhances the model... Aaron's models are prime examples and I wouldn't have them rendered any other way :)

A freshly repainted DD560 sits at Malmsbury prior to departing with a Melbourne bound goods.

A short time later, we see the DD powering away from the Coliban River bridge.

I'm not hating all baking, just the way its done on one model. Those others are lovely. The ones by Paul Hobbs are lovely. The DD17 is not, however. "Don't you understand that?"

I don't have the DD17, so I don't really understand that :hehe: But I thought you were thinking it as bad all round, but I understand that on some models it may be a bit iffy. Sorry for the misunderstanding...

Long time no hear Chris

Yeah too True,, mate been very busy with life, mostly work... but I have been plugging away with my NSW2ACR route.. it's off with Ghostryder at the moment he is helping me with it.. There's still a huge amount to be done.. I think that it at about the 10% marker LOL with 245ks of track and 400mtrs of elevation and around 30,000 track side objects its going to be a huge task... and then scenery LOL wow I have covered most of the southern east-west section of track to the tunnel.. about 30 k's of track.. and surrounding hills with grass for the most part, some trees and lots of rocky textures, I've been playing with a way to make rock outcrops without actually putting rocks in place seems to be working ok.. putting roads in too. but not making them like PoB with tracks driving on them not even got cars on them for now at least.. I'll get a few snaps and post them.. soon... but unless you look close you prolly not see much done since the last images I have reworked it a number of times cause I was not happy how it was looking... and well then when the track comes back.. there's the other work of pasting in some scenery I have done while it was away...

hi all

patchy

marty and greg
