That's what we can do in a "free Society"

However I just hope that by continually pointing out the flaws, one day we might come to our senses, before we really do cut off our noses, for some obscure reason, and destroy Trainz all together.
With one hand they create, and with the other hand they take away :(
Cheers

T394 and T374 rostered on the local goods was put aside to allow 24122012 Special a clear line.
Dd 560 recently restored to service at ZecRail Workshops gets the "plum" job of hauling the Santa Special in 2012.

Hey there's Santa!
Faxton is a strange town, if you notice their are no kids around :( I guess they need to be on the DLS :( The Dec Children are in large groups and very bright, alas too bright for this scene.

Pity about this map as it does not really work in 2012. Due mainly to the fact that so many assets are missing :(

As the Steamer makes ready to depart, we can ponder how much better things could be ;)
Sadly
Rod ;)

Rod, most of those missing assets are Trees from Pofig, others from Victrainz. I thought Tim had posted a thread on where to get the dependencies over at Victrainz when he released it...

Cheers

Stevo Call me pig headed ;)
But this map did work really well until I upgraded to Win 8 from 7. It did not save my Trainz and after a whole lot of trouble I was forced to reload and start again.
My installation was only a small one, about 162 gigs, but now it is a little more than 45gigs.
The loss is easily fixed if you have the bandwidth, and the time to search for hours, no weeks through forum threads for old information. In fact I have just finished filling 8 blueray disks with stuff saved over the years, and if I found a way of indexing it as kuids and knowing which one was which I guess I could recover most of my lost stuff.
But why should I and why should anybody else have to do this when the game is set up so much better than that.

Why cant we simply look in Content Manager see missing assets and click on Download...End of story!! The job is done!!..
Oh never mind, you guys do what you want to do. I got a box of Peco track ready to lay, and I will do things the easy way, the way we did it long before computers were going to save the World, make things so easy and save the forests :(
Yep they achieved all of that.....not!
Rod

Looks like like ya only missing the pofig trees and one other at the bottom there Rod so it wouldn't be much of a hunt for em.
Cheers Mick.

G'day!

After working 24/7 on the Old Ghan, I decided to take some time to fire up Vinny's new locos.

your right Mick :) That's one map and I do not even have to go translate the Russian site again, if I found the saved files.
But I had at least 15 maps and now I only have the few that Auran loaded in the game.
The problem is really much bigger than you state.
The problem I am trying to high-lite is far worse for new owners who arrive here full of expectations, only to walk away because it is much too hard .
How many do you think walk away? Looking at the growth in these forums and matching it to the sales of Trainz from the shop would be highly illuminating, I should think ;)
I just wandered back 30 pages on this forum. I counted 4 new posters in all that. You would think we would see many more than that?
Rod

Rod i think mate with this game you have to have a bit of patience, Sure for a new user i could well understand their frustration at finding missing or unkown Kuid's but to me it is part of the game i enjoy. A new user would have more then enough trouble i feel at just getting the game to run/patched/updated let alone all the missing stuff so if they hang around long enough then i think they are worth helping to find sum missing item's. At the moment i don't think they would have access to a lot of the older stuff or map's you mention anyway as N3V killed those off so yeah if ya need help then post away folk's here and especially in the Aussie Screenshot Thread they are more then willing to help. you mention 4 new poster's in the last 30 page's then to me that show we are a family but at the same time are more then willing to take in new member's no matter what state they are from and if they are genuine and love their Aussie Content then they receive help.
Sum may view this as one sided but to me i just love the game and want to see it played the way it was meant to be played.
Cheers Mick.

Nice "mills" and at Trainz Pro Routes they will do a marvellous job of stuffing up great maps, and making people go search for stuff that should be available on the DLS.
In my opinion, far from adding to Trainz this "unavailable" stuff is going to be what destroys Trainz.
Try to run Wadabavale or Georgetown to Tarrin Rocks (my most favourite routes) and see what happens if stuff is not on the DLS for whatever reasons. And as far as Multi Player goes...forget it :'(
I have been here from the first edition and I wonder how long it will last.
Rod
Well your're entitled to voice your opinion mate. My opinion as the creator of these mills is that I'm entitled to choose not to upload to the DLS. I don't think there should be any obligation on asset creators to upload to the DLS, that's your opinion, maybe more convenient. The assets I make are the thing I want to use if others want to download and use them or not that's fine by me either way. I don't think assets on TPR are "unavailable", it's not all that obscure or unknown.

Hello Everyone,

Sending my warm welcomes from Quorn, in the Flinders Ranges - home of the Pichi Richi Railway.

As I enjoy a warm Hot Chocolate & Some Coffee For later and a few Mint Tim Tams in the warm confindes of the locomotive depot, standing guard infront of me is former S.A.R SMC1 - Steam Motor Coach No.1 or as it affectionally know as " The Coffee Pot " I have to fire her up tommorrow on a special charter train down to Port Augusta & Back in the early morning. So I am bunking the night in the shed.

So while I have been in here, I have been finishing off a model which I have started of old SAR SMC1 - The Coffee Pot and have been using my time in here to measure here componets and this is what the end result has come to.

Sorry it does my head in of this fellow promising the world and does'nt produce

Cheers,
Patchy

What is the application used to create this map how it has the "fluro" if you will textures? im looking for another way to make routes and this looks interesting will it work in ts2009?

Hello coreycat, that is what is called a DEM map or Digital Elevation Model. The colours represent rail, roads and water. There's many DEM maps on the DLS for anybody who wants a good start for a layout or you can use a program called TrasDem to make your own from satellite images.

Railwayz.

Holla Everyone,

Haven't been on for a while, Wanted this place to settle down. Anyway. Nice model Michael, Defenetly looking forward to it. And not to be affensive but I will be looking forward to it if it ever makes it onto the DLS like the C17 I am still waiting on. You are pretty lucky to to drive The Coffee pot to as it is a very well known train in Australia. I also viewed Ghostryder's youtube video. It is stunning and it just prooves that you don't need to make a new route to make it feel like a christmas theam.

-Cheers everyone

Ummm.. I don't think you'll be / did drive the coffee pot on an early morning charter trip. There are several things preventing that from happening... Firstly the Coffee pot is out of service and will be for a considerable time while it getting a replacement boiler built/fitted. Secondly seeing as its currently December it would be totally irresponsible and idiotic on Pichi Richi Railway's part to run a coal burning steam locomotive which has been known to be prone to starting line side fires during the time of extreme fire danger through an area with lots of dried foliage. Thirdly your not a PRR driver. Last but not least there have been no photos or discussion of the Coffee Pot being returned to service and run during a high fire danger period so unless you can show other wise you sir are talking crap.
So either it only ran in your dreams or something amazing has happened without many people knowing about it.

Holla all

@Trainz89, I will have to go with brokensleeper. I do beleive I heard a week ago that the coffee pot is being fitted with a new boiler. Second, Many historical railway associations at the moment would have a limit of driving a steam loco. I know a few have had to cease operations for a bit or have to use a diesel or railmotor. And Sout Australia is much more drie then Queensland, Our grass is green here and down there is is drie grass all over the track. Also just adding on the Broken Sleeper. Broken Sleeper, There may also not be grass on the track but the loco probably would drop some burn't coal onto te track which may catch fire on a stick or a sleeper which would then spread. It also add's onto you saying trainz89 a few pages ago that you were going torun the DD17 up in Queensland Somewere. A little later that day, I found out that they were repairing the track after it was either a carriage or a loco de - railed. I am not saying that you aren't telling the truth Trainz89, I am just saying that it is a bit odd that you are saying that you are going to drive it but there is all these reason's why the Coffee pot may not run.

-Cheers

DDe 790 departs Lilydale with a suburban service, whilst a brass DD 560 sits waits with a Melbourne bound service from Healesville.
