Australian screenshots

Evening all,

Nice screen shots one and all. Quite a few different members posting these days.

Question for us Aussie users :- Aussie Traffic Lights, what is everyone using (if you do put them in your routes)? I have some areas near the main lines I would like some traffic lights for scenery, and have not been satisfied with what I have been able to find. Only other thing is to whip some up in 3dsmax myself, but if there is something available I would appreciate the comments.

cheers

Trent

@bearcat

to make the 85 you may need to make the area near the number boxes lower, raise the windscreens and make the area between the windscreen and cowcatcher area a bit taller.
i thought i would pitch in and give you some advice to make a excellent model.

Thanks for that but its a bit late as she is already finished and out there - but I can asure you that the body mesh matchs the blue prints as much as is possible with Gmax

Wow Tim that's awesome mate. Such a well presented screenshot. For a second, i thought i was looking in the US Screenshots thread :)

Cheers bud. You wouldn't be wrong if it was in the US thread as Australia never took any orders of the EMD F7s. These are just 'what-if's

That leading F7 paint scheme looks like a pic I've seen in a magazine before... AWESOME WORK GUYS!

You'd be right as the scheme was from the Louise and Nashville IIRC. I've modified it to work the the F7 texture mapping and added a few un-prototypical features (namely the VR logo on the nose and lettering on the sides) It wouldn't be the first time VR pinched a livery, the VR Blue and Gold is nearly identicle to that of the Erie Railroad.

You're right on that regard in that a literal F7 was never ordered new by any Australian railway (although the VR S/CR GM/NSWGR 42 classes were essentially a cutdown and stretched F7 more suited for our smaller loading gauge and lighter track.). However, having said that, two F7s did in fact see service in Australia - two were purchased second-hand from the US Western Pacific Railroad in the late 60's/early 70s by the Mount Newman Mining Company for use on construction trains on Mount Newman's iron ore line in WA's Pilbara region.

Once the line was opened they were delegated to back-up power and service trains for a while before being withdrawn and preserved by the late 70s. As I understand one is on static display in Port Hedland while the other was formerly in the custody of the now-defunct Pilbara Railway Historical Society who restored it to working order for occasional tour train use on the iron ore lines. I have no idea what has since become of that loco though since the PRHS shut down and disposed of their assets.

Anyway, I know there is an old fairly accurate Paintshed reskin of the Auran F7 in the Mount Newman livery on the DLS as 04 content if anyone is interested, as shown below:

EDIT: the reskin was done by John_SB and it's KUID is kuid:60318:3003. :)
