Australian screenshots

Hi Poul,

I was not aware of that, and it only came about that I liked the building after seeing a picture.
It looked quaint that the building's centre is open between the tracks (for goods transfer between gauges).
I haven't uploaded it yet and can leave it out.

Cheers,

Bill.

Started working on this:

Only half an hour so far :)

After enjoying these QLD buildings, I remembered that the QLD branch of the Australian Model Railway Association [AMRA] http://www.amra.asn.au/qld.htm have produced a booklet for those modelling QLD structures. John Armstrong did it years ago. It covers everything from buildings to buffer stops and loading banks and everything in between including bridge trestles and wooden two rail fences and "look Out For Train" signs. Originally printed to SN3.5 size structures on foolscap paper, I think the A4 may be HOn.5 scale drawings. But regardless of that, all measurements are given in feet and inches, including internal layout of buildings.

Australian Model Railway Association [AMRA] is not to be confused with the Australian Model Railway Magazine [AMRM] which is the glossy magazine you can buy at the newsagent which is published bi-monthly by SCR Publications for the Southern Cross Model Railway Association http://www.australianmodelrailways.com/amframe.html

Maybe contact
the QLD branch of the Australian Model Railway Association [AMRA] http://www.amra.asn.au/qld.htm and ask if still available for purchase or visit their Zillmere Brisbane clubrooms as they have a great library. Maybe join. I saw a friend's foolscap copy when up in Brisbane over Xmas. I have heard about the A4 version although I have only seen the foolscap version. Not sure if on CD or DVD.

Hi Bill

Please upload the building,
Muliebuck sent me some pic's of the building and a request to have a go at it.
The best thing about haveing simular models, are they are not the same and both can be used at the same time in the same place which i think looks great.
You have done some incredable model's compared to me.
I Don't like the idea that if a model is done form one person anther person can not do the same model and release it.

Poul

Harry, you might have an issue with the signal gantry being well within the loading gauge on the left hand side! WHACK!
Hi Raichase,Sometimes realism goes out the window...The Gantry I chose is for 4 tracks but it does get abit tight to get all tracks inside,Ive had freight trains use the main line and enough room for them to go past without knocking the gantry support over.:D

Even though I have, more or less, effectively 'retired' from route-building, as I'll openly confess - I can not even come close to some of the outstanding stuff being produced by others, way more talented than I - I agree with the sentiments of Electro (and a big thanks for that shed mate, and all the other stuff you've made for me, over the years!) - there should never be a 'I made X, so you can't make your own version of X' - such is just wrong, selfish and not in the spirit of helping and growing new up and coming creators. If anything, it could actively discourage them from even trying. I could name, I suspect, on one hand, the number of people still, as an example building content 'suitable' for QR. Why? Why is many reasons - some got burned out, others got ridiculed and insulted, others felt their worlk wasn't good enough - the reasons are wide and varied. Sure, I make X, but you can make your own version of X - I wouldn't mind in the slightest, even better - I'd encourage you to get out there and do so, don't feel held back by others, or hold yourself to an impossible aspiration. Have a go, make something, above all - do what makes you happy, not others :)

I have to disagree with that post Mulie. What I've seen of your routes and modules, they are as good as the best on this thread. It is a shame that you have retired but , of course, that is your choice. Please feel free to return anytime. I am reasonably sure you and your creations would be warmly welcomed.
My 2c for what it's worth.
Regards
Glen

*chuckles softly* you guys flatter me, honestly - sure, I'll return one day...but don't expect it to be anytime soon. I've longed to do, say, a 30+ km branchline or something - I can modestly detail a few boards, but then I lose any inclination/ability beyond that - or they end up just bland and a copy/paste job from say, three boards back, littered with trees, you get the idea. There's some fantastic stuff up and coming - Patchy, kent (the Author of the BVL) and others, whose work I am truly in awe of, and they inspire and facinate me - do I have anywhere near their skills and attention to detail? No, I do not and I can live with that. I'll keep tabs on this place, but actual submissions from yours truly - well - unless something (a picture, track plan, etc) really really captures me, I won't be uploading anytime soon.

Hope your standard gauge section is ready by 15 June because the ARHS nsw plan to run NSW 621/721 rail cars to the port for real :D
Anyone doing a Trainz NSW North Coast from the Hunter north to Roma Street in Brisbane now has a real life reason to run those rail cars :udrool:

See http://www.arhsnsw.com.au/current/t1206.pdf

Edit; Changed the railcars going around the loop to just going to the port. I realised the loop is only 3ft 6in and the standard gauge is a run around only. Opps :o

That is basically all I do mate. Does it show? Lol.
