Australian screenshots

Hello
i reckcon the Yallourn tramway a tramway thay existed around 1920's? was 2 or 3 three gauge
Zec - in the creek in your shot what bushes are they? (sorry could not resist)

Apologies for the double post guys :)

The Yallourn tramway was always approx 3ft gauge (I'm pretty sure the track was 3ft, with wheel spacing a small bit smaller, been a while since I dug out my books on this system).

In regards to the bushes, there's three items in use there. The first is the freeware 'demo' version of mcguirel's Ultra Grass (the map was made before I purchased the pack :) ). Second is one of the 'plant shrub' assets (built-in), and the third is 'plant boston fern' IIRC, also built-in. All three are 'speedtree' based.

Hey Rod,

Here's more info

wiki said:
Queenscliff station was built to serve the town of the same name.

The main traffic dispatched was fish from the fishing fleet stationed at Queenscliff. Ordinance and explosives from the military's Swan Island depot was also shipped by rail.

A 3 foot gauge tramway existed between the years of 1886 and 1958 to serve the military facilities on Swan Bay. A gantry crane was provided at the down end of the Queenscliff yard to aid transhipment of goods.

wiki said:
The site of South Geelong station was first used during 1878-1879 as a ballast and bluestone loading point by Topham, Angus & Smith, the contractor building the Queenscliff branch. A tramway ran from here though the streets to Scott's Quarry 2 1/2 miles away at Newtown. Permission to construct the tramway was granted in September 1878.

It ran along Yarra Street south from the railway crossing, before turning west into Fyans Street, then for two miles to the quarry near today's Elco Street. Stone was taken along the tramway, fed through stone crusher that was erected at Yarra Street, then loaded into rail trucks.

wiki said:
Originally opened to service the Cheetham's Salt Works located on the shores of Corio Bay to the north. A 2 foot gauge tramway was built between the siding and the salt works alongside Wilsons Road. The tramway was originally horse drawn, with diesel and petrol mechanical locomotives later used. A large shed spanned the tramway and loop siding.

Upon the closure of the railway, salt was trucked to the Geelong goods shed where it was transferred to rail. Full road haulage took over when the goods shed closed in the late 1980s.

and a screenshot of exported tramway tracks with lods and mapped on a single texture, just need timber textures to complete it for beta testing :)

Hey all,

I got it all textured and exported nicely in trainz and took the SS before I updated to build 45607 and took a nap during update, just woke up few mins ago anyways here's how the tracks look

azervich_20110211_0001.jpg

The half log textures was a little difficult to make as it was photo textured from a tree and the end parts from a stump, I then use black brush on a flow of 1% to darken it a little bit :)

Now, to see what problems I can find in build 45607.

what about ballast, mate? :)
Stevo

Hey Stevy,

No ballast, remember these are tramways not railways when the rails need to be firmly set, Tramways where layed as is, they where mostly dug into the ground when on the roads and had Trollys that where hauled by horses, there was also the logging types that where layed on the ground and was covered in mud/dirt, grass over the years, I'm not talking about Modern Tramways when they are layed in tarmac or ballast, I'm talking Tramways

Here you go Ron. They have changed the menu a little now, but you can still find your way around. In the center near the top they have an icon for "Floods and More". They even have Wagga now.
