Australian screenshots

Thanks everyone.

The blue loco is a Coote Industrial C, still in South Spur Rail Services' Blue, that I was just tinkering round for fun.

The bridge is made up from "Steel Bridge Wall Spline" and (I think) "Stone Retaining Wall Clean"

Daniel :)

To me that looks like a C class loco leading the 44. :)

Yup,

VR C Class, I miss see'ing them run past Geelong in V/Line.

Anyone care to guess these?

I gave some Prototypes to some people months ago but they where really bad
so I spent all day fixing up glitches and att point problems.

I started making them mid last year, then I stopped working on them
months ago, then thought I'll clean them up a bit.

Looking fantastic.... :udrool:

Yeah,

I tried to make them close to real as possible, I would sometimes spend hours looking at the 2 Motor cars in Newport Workshops back in 2002/2003 "they actually did run back then" I saw them go out to the city loop, Only problem is I spent too much time building the interior of these rather then the exterior.

Means the exterior isn't 100% accurate, I also built them in Gmax and it'll crash allot, sometimes when I save, take a break come back and Gmax refuses to load the file, so I have to start again, while I build new models in 3ds Max now, these where collecting dust in F:\drive for months so I thought I'll do what I can in Gmax and make them a semi beta (means there still incomplete) but they have no errors in TS09+ but cannot be back dated to TRS06 and lower as they use mesh-library.

I was also trying for a crush load too see how many people we could squeeze in it.

Not every car has passengers "as Gmax would crash allot when making att points"

I also started a 75ft and Refurbished ones along with MTH and BCH, BTH, BIH cars.
but for now, there going to collect dust ;P
Anyways I hope to have them up in Victrainz forum in the next few days or so for those drooling for it as I can't do anything on them till sometime next year when it's converted to 3ds so I can really detail them :) .

When you are working on stuff in gmax, I learned to save-as instead of save. If you name your file "harris001" or similar, click the + button when doing a save-as and it will automatically be named harris002 and so on.

Yes you wind up with dozens of copies which need to be purged occasionally, but if you introduce a problem you can just go back one or two versions until it goes away...

Also make sure the gmax files and texture source files are regularly backed up to a different drive, or dropped to CD/DVD. Avoids lots of heartache in the event of an unplanned disk failure.

Cheers

Hello all,

Patchy, simply amazing stuff coming from you lately mate.

Forest, speechless, simply speechless.

Been working hard the last few days on the new section of my route. I am very close to completing it, so wil get my act together and get a few screenshots up as I have been real slack on that department the last few weeks.

Looking forward to seeing more form you all in the coming days, always a pleasure to browse the forum. Keep up and great work all.

Cheers

Trent

Appreciate the kinds words, sir. Great to see you posting here, Trent. Look forward to some more of your own material.

Patchy... beautiful, simply beautiful. Looks like some of Bill's recently uploaded gear put to good use ;)

Keep up the good work all.

Odd what inspires us at times. The was an unusual combo:
1. Don't often take shots with inclement weather.
2. Have never tried to intentionally incorporate a good/appropriate sky for said inclement weather.
3. Never taken a passenger view shot.
4. Got another of Pete's locos operational in TS2010.
... thus conspiring these 2 shots. Different I guess.

Come to think of it, there aren't alot of inclement weather shots posted. That one shows a bit of thought and some flair. Well done sir, well done. Another one for the desktop.

Glen, i don't know about you, but i come to these forums, and this thread in particular, to get away from real life for awhile. I don't really wish to be reminded how gloomy that it can get at times.:(:(

Still, that said, the works of Forest_Runner are a large part of what makes my time here so enjoyable.:Y: For that i thank you, sir, and say keep 'em coming!:udrool:

By the mid-1980's the reliability of the ageing Bluebird railcars began to cause problems on the Adelaide-Mt Gambier services. Here, pristine 966 rescues a pair of cars and is running nearly 3 hours late!! (inspired by actual photograph dated November 1986).

The lord, he has delivered!:Y::clap:

Forest
, nice shot. New section of your route, or new route all together? Either way, looks good, and i like your use of grass (JVC, no doubt?) in the area. Gives it a very nice feel.

Well done,

Matt.

is that caption from a book called south australian diesel pictoral, the 80's?

A first time for everything,

As long as I have been making stuff I have done "special items or projects" for people with specific requests, most of the time they dont request, I offer to make it.
A couple of days ago I received an email from, I think the term you guys use is a "gimme pig". This email contained a "request" for several pieces of rollingstock and many scenery items.

You know who you are and for the first time since I came here my answer is no. I will not be making these items for you. Perhaps you should learn from the behaviour of the overwhelming majority of users in this forum.

Having said that, I will continue to help route builders and others with specific items they require, but I will not act on what I think was a greedy demand for content.

cheers
pete
