Australian screenshots

Cowra (since theres the Cowra rail bridge in the background), I don't know where else has a bridge like Cowras?

Maybe SMR since theres a 10 class sitting somewhere on your route?
(to be honest I have no clue;)) Looks good anyway.

Some more pics

3830 is held up a signal MF143.2 on the 1 in 40 of Fassifern bank.

3830, that clarity gives me something to aim for!

Further west, no it's not snow (although it could be!) I just haven't finished texturing.

There were a couple of locations that used the same style of bridge as Cowra's.

Go Holden!

Bathurst for one

Go the Fords - Jack Perkins -
Bearcat almost at Bathurst :)

Benno. I'll give you some surveryor tips to realism?
1. Rotating textures: hold the ] key while placing textures. This makes them lose that "repetitive" look.
2. Use boobless_ed's cliffs and cuttings, textures and trees. Those auran trees tend to make things look like a model railway.
3. Shading: use the textures you have to provide depth in you landscape. Under trees there will be shade, so use a darker colour. Under bridges there is shade so darken it up.

Also make a large square (6x6 on the grid) of your base colour (for out west a sort-of dry grass) then place intermediate textures inside like differents grasses etc so it doesn't look plain. (use the smallest rotation for this) then use the copy and paste tool and cover large areas. = faster route building and will make the route look consistent.

Thats just what I do, its up to you;) I thought that might help anyone with queries about making nice routes.

OH! press F5 when in driver and taking screenshots. This will remove all the "custom hud" like the ai things and controls.

It goes from Point Clare (south Gosford) to Singleton (upper Hunter) and I don't know how I'll release it. Maybe Singleton to Broadmeadow (w/Newcaste) and Broadmeadow to Gosford. They'll match up perfect though.
Umm time frame? Year 2050 haha. I don't know, theres alot of gmax things and I'm in no way looking forward to them:'(

Fair enough. btw, I've built it 06'. I doubt I'd bother with 09 because I've heard alot of bad things about it. Especially those trees, yuk.:hehe:

Daniel

yea my layout of the hunter is huge too.

stretches from Gosford to Narrabri Muswellbrook to Ulan ,Maitland to Gloucester and into Newcastle ,with all coal mine loops etc signals etc.

Just so wish atm had some more NSW type signals that are of the real kind in those places

It's a never ending project least track is down with all current changes that have been done but so need to do more scenery and fix a few mistakes in it but least I can go for a drive and have the feel.

Defiantly post some pics!! Have you used hog or DEM in the route? Must take ages to load. Thats what, like 200+ kms of track, not to mention all the yards.

The signals are there in 06 and on the DLS. Natvander has made them

no DEM etc, all done from TRANZ over the years.

Ones I'am after Nav never did - as much as I tried begging for them. lol.

3 aspect with yellow low speed dolly siding lights to the left and right IE to Ashton Coal siding, Into Bengalla, 2 aspect low speed dolly light into Dartbrook Balloon Loop (not that that is being used atm) and new ones now used between Muswellbrook and Antiene and Branxton - Maitland and around Sandgate with Box direction led indicators. Also the 1 aspect right/left diverge with the little dolly light under the 3 direction lights that are in use at like Drayton,Mt Thorley.

Wish I had the skill to design them myself but every time I try i get lost in GMAX.

But it keeps me busy still doing changes etc to the layout so it sure has been a big layout to do but is the area i grew up in especially Muswellbrook.

I have thought about that railmotor before they are cool ar'nt they....but as always so not to be assalted by the rivit counters too much I would need plans and measurements .....and a few good pics
As any of us will tell you Modeling is not the hard part (after many years of practice).....finding the info is ....and I have'nt the time or the need to find it all if you can dig up some serious data send it to me and I will see what I can do.......
still researching b18 at moment
cant find any basic b13 measurments so if i make one the size of a pb sound about right????..........feedback please

Well... There is one book I have found really usefull for all of my modelling, and not just Electronic Modelling...

"Queensland Railways Steam Locomotives 1900 - 1969: Design and Operation", By J. W. Knowles... In the back, there are heaps of diagrams of steam loco's from the era...

B13 Kitson (Deep Firebox Version)
B13 Kitson (Wide Firebox Version)
B15 Converted
PB15 (Stephenson's Valve Gear)
PB15 (Walcheart's Valve Gear)
C16
C17
C17 (Post War)
AC16 (C16 Tender)

BB18 1/4
C19
ASG (Australian Standard Garratt, (A.K.A. - The heap o' crap))

B13 1/2

It also goes through the operation and Mechanical Side of the Locomotives From a Fireman's and Driver's Point of View... Mostly the C17's and The Bettys...

A Real Investment for all Queensland Steam Era Modelers, And A Real Investment For Anyone who would like to know more about the Mechanics of a Steam Locomotive...

Just ordered! Never knew such a book existed, despite searching for yonks. Thanks for the tip! Will be a huge help.

Yeah, hes done those (if your meaning these)

yea those too the little dolly light below the turnout indicator is usually yellow with a route indicator on them too , but there are still heaps of NSW signals around that are not part of TRS at all that I wish I had to make signalling my layout as real as possible.

I am sort of a safeworking guru I have studied them all my life so sure know what they are at different places.

usually I have to try and use a foreign signal ie - British one to kinda show the same thing but it isn't quite the same.

There is even a 2 aspect one now like the 3 in the pic you posted with a left/right diverge now in use at a few locations in NSW At Saxonvale Junction the Down Home is a 2 aspect left diverge and the main head displays caution or a flashing medium and stop.Of coarse without the route indicator below.

At Wilpingjong Junction there is a 2 aspect left diverge into the mine with clear/stop main head indicators.

NSW signaling has so improved over the last few years we have so many new type ones in service.

What the hell you doing back on your computer!:hehe:

Welcome Back To The Service

Hello All

Well Hurley Long Time No See, But The Commissioner Welcomes You Back & Have You Finished That Stephenson's PB15 Project Yet????. Can You Please Help Me With My C16, C19's & B18 Projects

I Had That Book For Five Years In The Archives But I Have The Original Diagrams From Ipswich.

That ASG Was The Worst Locomotive In The History Of QGR Becuase The Department Was Forced By The Australian Labor Goverment To Accept These Stupid But Poorly Designed Garrats. QGR Wanted More C17's But Were Denied But A Political Railway War Broke Out Between The Commonwelth Land Transport Board & The Queensland Goverment Railways Department.

Dear Dreddman, How Is That B13 & Your B18 Project Going Along????

Kind Regards

Michael G

QGR Commissioner

Yes...

Erm, I lost the Gmax File... However, at the moment, I'm doing a course with Blender... So, I will start using that instead of Gmax...

And, sorry, But I'm a bit busy at the moment... Gotta overhaul a PB15 in 5" Gauge... (It's actually harder than you Think)... lol

Just a quick question while the nsw singals are under topic...
Does anyone know why a few of my signals are dimmer ( ie the light itself)
