Australian screenshots

Thanks for using my X in your screenies, ex railwayman.

While the X was used occasionally for hauling passenger trains when the normally rostered locos were not available, its primary use was as a mainline goods engine.
A minor point: the numbers ranged from 27 to 55, though 36 is not a suitable number as that loco never was fitted with a booster.

Hi Pete,

Craig (Seeseeme) & I have just completed an inspection of the route we're building .
It's the old Narrandera_Tocumwal branch line in NSW.
Some of the outlying locations have the line raised on a bed above the surrounding flatlands.
This shed is pretty much perfect for a couple of locations.
However, because of the elevated rail, the siding platform has a slope on the non-rail side, which is fairly high.
From memory I'd say in the order of maybe up to 3 metres.
The original shed was flush with the surface of the platform, & half protruded off the rear of the platform; supported on brick piers.

Are those piers on your model 3 metres or more in depth? (please) :)

It does look really good.

Today was a good day at the ZR workshops, with a number of items being sent off to the Download Station. Of course, this meant a transfer train. Thankfully, one of the items was actually a loco...

Thankfully I was able to grab photos of the transfer train, which was made up of K103, 4 ICI/VR liquid chlorine wagons, 4 OT wagons (3000gal, two in BP and two in plain black), and a Z van. The K, the liquid chlorine tanks, and the OT wagons being the items actually sent off.

Anyhow, heres the pics.

K103 sits with the train at the ZR workshops platform prior to departure.

Having traversed the short section of dual gauge track on the ZR branchline, K103 grinds to a halt at Devon Junction platform.

Now on the main line, K103 blasts across the Merebin River bridge.

Having blasted through Merebin station, K103 crawles across the Merebin River bridge due to a speed restriction.

Due to a problem with the K class (possible hot box on the tender), and a large amount of track to be coming through soon, K103 was put into the yard at Dhura Oon.

Another shot of K103 and train at Dhura Oon, this time from the ballast pile. Unfortunately, I had to leave the train here, and have not heard of what progress the train made beyond this point.

ex-railwayman,

What track is that in those screenshots?

Thanks!
Mitchey

Hello Mitchey, it's on the DLS called 3m_05 on kuid:67865:38041.

Hi Bill, yeah, sorry, I must make a mental note to do some research before taking screenshots in future, I didn't realise its primary function was a freight loco and not a passenger one, and I put the number 65, 'cos that's my house number and the first thing that I thought of at the time when numbering the loco.....:hehe::hehe::hehe::hehe:

Cheerz. ex. :o

Hi Noel,
Those particular piers are 3 foot 6 inches which was standard platform height. the platforms did slope away, unfortunately the profile I had of the platform with shed was a slope then flat ground.

The A2 has a loading platform on the back of it so it doesnt seem logical that there would be a huge drop of behind it or vehicles would not be able to access it.

Can you send an email with precise details and perhaps we can make a set of peir extensions on which you place the shed and piers, either that or adjust the peirs on the A1, probably easier, that it could be pushed down to platform level.

G'day Billegulla,

...A minor point: the numbers ranged from 27 to 55, though 36 is not a suitable number as that loco never was fitted with a booster....

...you realise, Bill, that Andi06's famous "Superscript" will overcome this issue - and it isn't all that difficult to administer...

Remember, opacity is the opposite to transparency.

So having the opacity set to 10% is effectively the same as making it 90% transparent. The higher the opacity setting, the less transparent it will become :)

Well, the point for that post was to 'announce' that the items shown had been uploaded to the DLS ;) So yes, when the DLS is approved the next time, they will end up on the DLS. Not sure about the K at the moment, as I'm having trouble with it at the moment...

For the spark, no, not got an E in production at the moment. I plan to make it one day, but not in the immediate future. As for a cab, this would likely be a custom build for the 1100/E class locos, as the locos themselves used parts from other vehicles...

G'day AD602000,

They're great stations, Pete, even for NSWGR ones...

...excuse my ignorance but I would have thought the A3 veranda would require a support bracket at the end furthest from the camera (where it appears to be missing), as it has at the nearest end (lest that end should sag)...

Is it the x'trap? Or the L class?

Actually, the current sparks that I've got 'in production' (but am not currently working on) are the L class, X'Trap, a Tait, and a Comeng. The closest to release is probably the L or the X'Trap, the other two are only really just basic shapes at the moment and really aren't likely to be released for a while.

For the few of you who wanted or liked the platforms I previously created I have re uploaded some revised versions. I also uploaded versions containing a yellow line and one with no line in both 3.5m and 5.0m wide splines.

The below three images link to the tactile line, yellow line and no line versions in 3.5m.

Closer view of the platform style with the tactile line.

To get the 5.0m versions please visit my site. (still under construction)

[Edit: Didn't realise that I actually had the images pointing to localhost, lol]

Well the VR X came to NSW for a while. So did another loco. I guess they came together.
