The local Heritage group has payed for a dock platform to be installed so as to free up the platform for local steam excursions using locomotive 5270. The Daily Xplorer drops of passengers and goes to loco to get re-fueled and service then proceeds to the dock platform to stable till its time to depart for Waroona and beyond.

The line is also restricted to one coal train beyond Cowarie at a time due to the limited size of loops.

More updates to come...

Just so you know this a personal update of Natvander's Branchline2c...

I will post pictures as I progress further on the Signals replacement and re-forestation with Boobless_Ed's gums.

It does help those with slower computers, but that's not the idea, for me, having them in one's layouts

Yes, it's possible to have this scene with these splines. However, if you use real rolling stocks it will definitely choke anyone's PC because of the poly's and detail and moving parts of the rolling stocks ... Or mix and match, with real rolling stocks just to expand one's imagination ...

So the benefits of having the rolling stock splines are that one can have plenty in yards and sidings, without hitting the frame rate.:)

Have fun,
Ish

I don't have the problem of choking my computer anymore. I recently upgraded my setup to a 4.8Ghz Quad-Core Processor, 4Gb DDR2-RAM, and Parallel N-Vidia 512mb SLI cards. :D

Excellent .... lots of power there ...

Happy training ....

Looks awesome - signals are for chumps anyway :D

hehe, Back in the Semaphore days they used common sense:eek:...
I'm surprised alot of people know what it is these days...So many rules prevent us from using it:p

Also wondering if anyone could give me some hints on how to improve my loco area...

The engine shed needs to be replaced at least and I'm trying to keep the Xplorer re-fuel and re-load area as seperate as possible...

I take my inspiration from diagrams in NSW Rail History Magazine (eg the recent Hillston-Roto articles saw me editing all my yards into that kind of style), as well as the style used on the Wadalbavale Route. Your yard seems in a similar location to that at Wadalbavale (ie yard opposite the main line to the loco depot), so perhaps some inspiration can be sought there?

Otherwise, it seems a long way to get between the loco shed and the turntable and the carriage sheds - perhaps compacing them, or using kickback sidings might be more prototypical?

If you can't track down the Hillston - Roto articles, I'd be happy to scan the track diagrams and e-mail them to you.

WAIT Isn't this modern look at the pictures:p i don't think you need turntables for explorer sets:hehe:

Ah, but what happens when 3801 pops in for a visit?

Finished (?) the branch section, so been running some test trains to make sure I can shunt the right wagons in the right yards (mostly 1 or 2 wagons per yard).

The branch itself is about 15km as the crow flies, compared to the Wadalbavale one which is about 30km. I plan on having a good section of mainline too, so I'd say I'm about 3/4 of the way there...

It was after crossing the bridge I realised that the railmotor had gotten stuck due to a missing point lever - I ran it through anyway, but forgot about catch points before the missing lever, and ended up in the dirt.

But yes, so far so good :D

Looking Great Raichase, I am eagerly awaiting more pics *hint*:p

Tom, the loco depot is looking much better, especially with the addition of some heritage rolling stock :D.

Thanks for the kind words! Just like your interest in my project, I'm quite interested to see how your rework is progressing - so far it seems a pretty big improvement, while still retaining all the charm of the original :D

Its not requiring much work on my behalf I must say....
Just replacing everything with Nat's new stuff:p

I will once I'm finished be making some more cosmetic chnages like I have to Cowarie station...
I also plan on, if I'm allowed to release it some sessions.

See, thats an excellent idea. I think we have too few decent sessions to go with decent layouts. A friend of mine who doesn't post or read these forums, plays Trainz, but hates downloading layouts as he has to put his own stock down and organise everything, usually when he's unfamiliar of how it's supposed to work.

Simple sessions or even complex ones, even just with some stock and a single goal are a good idea to offer for download.

I prefer sessions where when your at a loop a train passes etc...:D

So I usually make my sessions so that as you drive into a station a 73 might be shunting or a train passes or better yet, a train arrives stops shunts then departs:eek:
