Ian those ferries' are looking great.

I agree with you Bruce. Ian has done a great job on the ferries.

Also thanks again for the QR EMU bogey. I've installed them on a couple of units, so now its good to run them on the correct gauge.

Here's a couple of shots with the new bogey's on my Redcliffe Line.

very good stuff everyone!

im planning to make a route that i wont get board of. iv got some voting for you all to do, number 1= Goulburn to Wagga Wagga. number 2= east maitland to unknown destination. finally number 3=lithgow to penrith.

please if u can vote for one because i have no idea on what to do, if u have any other suggestions please tell me.
Cheers, Ryan
Hi Ryan, I've pretty much got Bethungra to Wagga covered with a release coming soon. In reality you should decide for yourself, as it's you that is making it and you only have to please yourself. Hopefully you will use a DEM map of something you like and are passionate about, that way you won't get bored with it.
cheers

Hi Ryan,

I agree with Graeme wholeheartedly.

It's up to you to decide what you really want to do. If you are getting bored with something you are doing, then stop. It's not worthwhile wasting your time.

Most important, don't rush into something you are not 100% sure of.

You may find it better at present, to test-drive as many routes as you can lay your hands on.

While you are doing that, look at the construction of each layout in detail. See what assets they used to put it together. Pay particular attention to understanding the 'ins' and 'outs' of sessions, layers, modifying a few assets to your liking. Check out YouTube tuition videos on Trainz. This will give you heaps of knowledge and possible technical skills that you can use eventually for your own creations.

Check out Blender, Sketchup, GMax, and stretch your abilities a little further. Maybe create some worthwhile assets that others can use.

Then one day, you'll get a brilliant idea to create something, no one else has thought of.

Then stick with it and persevere until it is completed. (As an example, I built a 6 metre square HO gauge layout, and it took me 13 years to complete. I did complete it and I felt good about it.)

Good luck,
Roy

Hey Barisbeer, as much as I'd like to say its a full route, its not, its only a very small scene on a baseboard, I do have another route in the works with similar styling that I do intend on releasing in the future, I tend to just make these small scenes as practice for larger routes.

Regards

G'day Everyone,
I'm still playing with environment settings, trying to get more "true to life" settings that look good in TANE.

I got my route plan, it won’t be done for a few years but this is something I should enjoy.

i will be getting some friends from Instagram to join in on this creation, it’s going to be a big one!!!
That's a really huge task, good luck with it. Are you using a DEM map, freehand elevations or will it be flat?
cheers

The last thing I want Is for it to be flat, not sure earthed about DEM map idk what they are sorry.

im just looking at google earth and copying it all down *too scale* with the track going up and down in the same spots as the map has it going up and down.

Cheers, Ryan
A DEM is a Digital Elevation Model and is created using a program called TransDEM. In short, it maps all of the terrain heights for you and cuts out the time it takes to add another baseboard and add ALL of the heights, not just where the track is. It can also be used to lay the track for you and show where roads and property boundaries are loacated and will also show some landmarks.
My original Goulburn Murray Lines and version2 of it were done freehand, but version 3 and my new ARTC NSW Main South - VR North-East route both use DEM maps and has cut years off producing the routes.
Best of luck whichever way you build it.
cheers

X47 makes a rare mainline appearance, hauling a short SCT transfer train from Barnawartha to Laverton, seen here powering through Glenrowan...

Graeme, is this something you have to purchase...I think I downloaded it but came up with errors when asked to run so was unable to use it. I noticed the site is run by a certain Roland Ziegler...there is a link for trainz which appears to be payware for the program. Is this what you are referencing?

Val.

Yes, it is payware and costs around $50aud. From what I'm told, it has a steep learning curve but once mastered, is the most powerful route building tool there is.
cheers
Graeme
