Stevo, your screenshots are magic mate.
Wallpaper material right there.
Can't wait to see your layout released. It's going to be epic.

Patchy, your screenshots are fantastic as always mate. Love the details including the check rails and frogs on your points!

Ive uploaded the SCT ABSY reskinned from ABFX vans , and are currently being processed. Thanks again to Rob for allowing this to happen.

Folks i need sum help please, How do you put Catenerary thru a double platform

What happen's in the real world do the stanchions attach to the buildings either side of the platform. I'd really like to have Davido's V-Set's up and running on my mucked around with and totally destroyed Georgetown to Tarin Rock's Route so just wondering what other's here do to overcome the stanchions sitting in the platform where passenger's could run into them as they race off the trains lol. Thanks for any help.
Great work on the SCT ABSY David i look forward to downloading them and as David said thanks Rob for allowing this.
Cheers Mick.:)

Can anyboy reccomend a good electric locomotive sound - perfer if the loco is sound free apart from the compressor when stopped at a station

Mick,

I went through my photos to try and find some photos of the overhead structures around platforms - in reality, there are so many different ways it is done, I don't think you will be in trouble of being "unrealistic" in how you model it.

Sometimes it's unavoidable, and stanchions have to be erected on platforms (they are earthed to avoid any danger to passengers, although I still wouldn't go standing too close in an electrical storm):

Other times, they are placed alongside station buildings (it can't be seen too clearly, but the stanchion is adjacent to the brickwork for the station building):

Other times, longer cross-bars are used, so that the supports are outside of the fence, keeping the platform surface clear.

I hope that makes sense? I think, as long as you don't have a stanchion through a doorway, or encroaching on the danger zone (ie, in your example screenshot, I would be inclined to "skew" the wires to the outermost rail and use single-track stanchions, to ensure the stanchion is as close to the platform fence as possible). This is not unrealistic, as the overhead never travels in a straight line, it zig-zags above the track to ensure even wear on the carbon stips atop pantographs (as if there is a hole in the carbon strip, you get excessive arcing and sparking). As long as the wire still contacts the pantograph of your electric trains, it's still perfectly acceptable.

Hope that helps you somewhat.

Thanks heaps Trent i think i visit your site more then you do mate i have been there all morning searching for pic's like these lol. I could just make a generic type Single/Double Stanchion that sits back close to the outside fence on a platform i suppose. Getting it to line up with David's overhead wiring will be the time consuming part i think without knowing the actual hieght of them but it would be worth the hassle to at least try as i have seen quite a few Cityrail builder's here on the forum but havn't taken much notice how they overcome the passenger's slamming into the pole's when they exit the train
Thanks again for the pic's.
Cheers Mick.:)

Problem solvered Trent, I followed your suggestion and used David's single Catenery Poles on the platform and all i had to do was make a Concrete base for it.
This is a Render for it and here it is in game

It is height adjustable and it's only a scenery item as i don't know of any thing else you could do to make it easier to place. Anyway if some one think's they could use it here's a link http://www.mediafire.com/?x6h2ki8irap8l2y for folk's to try the PSD is also in there if you want to change the texture's if useful we'll throw it on the DLS.
Cheers Mick.:)

I for one would be interested in that Mick, Well done :)

Mick,

Sold! What an excellent idea - especially as, rather than request a "new pole" from Davido, your concrete block can be used on the whole selection, depending on how many tracks are in use.

A couple from me showing the surveyor works I've done over the last week or so, I've placed vegetation/houses/grasses on a couple of boards and textured appropriately. Long, slow process, this... First shot is taken from the verandah of a house I think a few here would enjoy living in...

The track in this area is based on the western line of NSW, with fictional scenery.

Nice shots Davido. Photo realistic :)

Here are some more screen shots from the Oxford to Queens route TS2010 Edition. A new session in the works which includes some driving from Tarin Rocks to Queens a 50km round trip. Loading some wheat to haul back to Richmond.
