Attention N3V - clarification required on Aerotrain DLC page

Hi N3V (and Trainzers),

After looking at the Aerotrain DLC page (http://www.simulatorcentral.com/index.php/trainz-dlc/official-trainz-dlc/trainz-dlc-aerotrain.html), I feel that clarification is required.

For a start, do any of the foreign versions support it (include the relevant build numbers)?

Secondly, you need to specify which TS2010 build(s) will allow the Aerotrain to work - no getting out of that one.

Thirdly, since the Steam version has been updated, you need to specify if the updated Steam version of TS12 is compatible with the Aerotrain or not.

First thing I see is this -

Downloadable Content
Requires an up to date copy of Trainz Simulator 2010 SP3 or an English Version of Trainz Simulator 12 build #49922.
build #49922.
Apple Mac users will not be able to use this add-on.

Good Morning Shane
We feel, at this time, that this is sufficient to outline which versions it is compatible with. Namely, it requires the latest TS2010 SP3/4 build, or TS12 build 49922.

We cannot list all non compatible builds for it, due to the amount of space required to do this. However, as above, we do state clearly what build of TS12 is required, and that TS2010 requires the latest SP3 or SP4 build.

At this stage, only the Steam (and some US retail) release of TS2010 does not have access to this patch.

Hi Zec - thankyou for your response.

I can understand that it is impossible to list non-compatible builds, but I feel that it's worth mentioning which regional versions do support the Aerotrain, as there are various foreign language versions involved, and not all of these go up to the same build.

Interestingly, there is still some interpretation regarding TS12 - does the now-updated Steam version of TS12 now support the Aerotrain?

I also feel that there may be confusion regarding the TS2010 - is it possible to state exactly which builds are supported, as the current wording can be seen as ambiguous.

Good Morning Shane
Again, for TS12, ONLY build 49922 is able to use the Aerotrain. NO OTHER BUILD. Hence, only editions with this build (namely, English releases) will be able to use it. It doesn't matter what language it actually is in, it MUST be build 49922. And only build 49922. Hence why we specifically state the build number. It should also be noted that our shop states explicitly that it needs to be an English release of TS12... There is an exception to this, however we do not currently feel the need to state this on the shop (and create extra confusion)...

Specifically, the exception is the Steam edition of TS12. This edition has been updated to allow the aerotrain to be installed, and we are working to release it via Steam. When released, we would recommend that Steam users purchase it from Steam, so that installation is easier. Our DLC packs from our store can install into Steam (excluding Blue Comet at the moment), however most people will find it easier to purchase and install via Steam.

For TS2010, only the Steam/US Retail build of TS2010 is incompatible with the Aerotrain pack. All other releases can be updated to either SP3 or SP4, since SP3 places all versions onto a common build, as does SP4. We do state that you require an up to date copy of TS2010 SP3 to use it, and hence this means you will need to update to the latest build... If someone gets stuck on this, it's easy enough to assist them with solving this, as all but the Steam/US retail release of TS2010 can access this patch... And the US retail version is somewhat uncommon, since it was a very late release of TS2010.

Regards

Thankyou for your responses Zec.

The main concern I have is that there is some confusion (of other users, as I had to deal with a Russian user) on what is compatible.

Whilst the TS12 information is black and white, so to say, the TS2010 info is less so - is it not possible to state the exact build number(s) required, not just 'the latest build of SP3/SP4', which for some regional versions may not be the same as the versions sold directly by N3V.

Good Morning Shane
Again, TS2010 only has ONE build that is NOT compatible with the Aerotrain DLC, and that is the Steam edition of TS2010 (plus the smallish number of US retail releases that use the same build). ALL other builds of TS2010 have access to the SP3 and SP4 hotfix patch for the Aerotrain (builds 49933 and 49938 respectively). ALL builds patch up to these EXACT build numbers, again excluding the Steam build.

Hence, so long as a TS2010 user has the latest SP3 or SP4 patch installed, they can use the Aerotrain DLC.

Good Morning Shane
Since SP4 is a 'beta' version only (aka, the Multiplayer Public Beta), we do not usually advertise this in our store as a minimum requirement. Since it is for TS2010 SP3 (with hotfixes), TS2010 SP4 (with all hotfixes) is simply a 'newer' version of this. However, again, we don't explicitly advertise this version in our store, since many may not want this version due to the removal of compatibility mode.

Regards

I understand that one. Is it possible though for the latest build for SP3 to be added to the page? Also, a note that build 43361 (aka the Steam version) is not compatible may help.

Shane

P.S. I do have a small question - is there a public address for the CM authentication server? It may come in useful for part of my PC Information Application, which checks the connectivity for various servers.
