Article: TS12 SP1 Hotfix 2 now available.

Sweet, glad you are dropping out fixes as much as you can!! Really appreciate all the hard work you guys are doing for us!

Seems to be taking a long time to install for what seems like a small patch compared to the previous ones. What are peoples experience with the time its taken? Been a few hours now, progress bar is just before the end of the Cancel button..

Took around 4 minutes here. Has it got to updating the Trainz database yet?

That patch is dependent on the amount of installed user content as well, as it checks it first before the actual patch unpacks.

Got A lot of content , it sped through the progress bar upto the current point.. Suppose it's the database part. It's still at the same point.

Too bad, I had no problems after the patch and the first hotfix, but now after the second hotfix (which ran without problems or error messages) Content Manager freezes after some time. I experienced it while clicking assets in the "Today" window. I had to resort to EndTask, for it lasted. In another attempt I started downloading things quite soon after having started CM. Download went fine until it suddenly stopped after a few minutes. Completely stuck. The taddaemon reported two or three lines " ... AssetIndex::WriteDatabase" in each case.
Please help. Thanks.

need help!
I started 57825_to_57898.exe and the progress bar was stuck at around 70% for hours. So i had to kill the program.
Now successive calls report "This patch file is not applicable to your current installation version".
TADDaemon reports "Mismatched build number from TAD client process (client 57825, server 57898)"
Looks like the binary was pathed but the database wasn't.
Any chance to "start over"?

That also means that a reinstall is needed - one should never force-close the patching process.

The likely reason for the slow behaviour happens if your antivirus software is still running, or if you have a lot of content installed.

still got the problem with splines causing a chain reaction and turning everything around.(have noticed a few people had this problem on other forums) on the track i have found it causes a problem as far as the last junction. Am using a lot of 3rd rail track which sometimes needs to be laid the 'wrong way' at stations as the 3rd rail is always away from the platform. never had a problem with this pre sp1. was hoping this problem would have been solved with the latest hotfix but alas not yet. I realise there is still a few bugs and the team are working hard to resolve these issues, but at least progress is been made and i am sure all problems will be resolved soon.

You are not alone. I, and at least one other, have had this problem. See http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?101229-TS12-SP1-HF2-patch-runs-continuously

Shane is right about the re-installation but even that doesn't always solve the problem.

I eventually cancelled my patch and renamed the TS12 directory. Reinstalled TS12, patched it with all 3 patches then added my content back. Saved a lot more time!

Also, may be worth having a look at Task Sheduler, Win7 and probably Win8 has some odd things sheduled to run in the background that could conceivably cause a problem and temporarily disabling windows update is probably a good idea if leaving the PC unattended!

I'm not installing the thing ,I'll wait till the little critters are ironed Out, seems to be issues ,kind of gun shy after the 1st debacle with these service packs, I dove in head 1st the last time and suffered because of it. sticking with 49922 for a long while!

try this it worked for me

jimabbey,

it is almost safe to say you can have a run for it if you accept you update your dbase kuids to match the ( to long awaited stronger rules for kuids configs).
Follow Pkoester's way of working(think he posted in one of my threads not sure where) how to install safe things and make sure you not have like me built-in stuff i never use or look at disabled this each time came back on me like a virtual trainz pit bull....
This time when i had a damaged version it was my 57825 i think, I did not reinstall it but tried to copy the entire bin folder from a "clean" 57825 I kept on another disk for safety.
The damage was I could go into surveyor etc etc but not my CM 3.7 so thought that the bin file should do the job and yes it saved me a lot of work.
what you can do is when you update is take out your userdata folder "local" and put it safe somewhere else.
  1. now do like Pauk Koester said first reboot computer ( i wait 9 seconds after close comp) update 49922 to 57825....
  2. do not start trainz but reboot each time in between an update.
  3. Now update 57825 top 57898 and reboot.
  4. when done just run an EDBR and wait for 10 min to see it cleans up the dbase properly.
  5. start trainz and see things work normal with the built-in.
  6. move your local file back to userdata folder but make a backup copy of it for safety anyway.
  7. let me know if this worked for you to.
Even if this SP1 had nothing to offer for me I would still install it because the DRIVER is the first driver(in 10 years0 that really works so much better for my routes.

I am not really having any issues with my content or editing in surveyor. Just the one thing that is still off is the sound. When I start moving in any locomotive the sound goes to mute then in order to get it back I have too either pause or change the view. Otherwise TRAINZ 12 is running very well.

I keep getting 'This patch file is not applicable to your current installation version'. Is there a way to fix this?

Your current version should be build 57825. You might also want to check that the path in the installation path is correct.

Make sure it's looking at the correct folder (path).

In the patcher window you will see the path indicated at the top of the window, there's a small square window on the right, adjacent to the path. Click on that and navigate to the correct TS12 folder - highlight the .exe file and click OK
.

Cheers
