Article: Trainz 12 Service Pack 1

OK - how long is the patch taking to install. I have been at it for about 2 1/2 hours and the task bar is still staying about half way. Same as it was at about 15 minutes.

OK, fourth attempt to install the Patch again results in failure! ...

Bob

In case you haven't read all the other posts I'll repeat what you need to do:

1. disable your anti virus (this was the main problem for me)
2. disable your Windows firewall (this was a problem for the hot fixes so I'd disable them for SP1 as well)
3. disconnect your PC from the internet (not necessary for the hot fix but stops anyone hacking into your PC while the firewall is down)
4. SP1 will literally take hours to run (at least 4-5 hours if not more). It will appear to hang half way through but it is because the patch is amending very large files. Let it run overnight.
5. if you have DLC content (Duchess, PRR, etc) then Trainz will automatically start to download those again once Trainz starts after SP1. This will occur even if you already had them installed. This can take hours as well.

The hot fixes only take a few minutes once started but you need to disable the anti virus and firewall as well.

Hi all,

I have been away for a while and when I left had Trainz 12 (49922) installed.

After reading the forums I have downloaded 49922 - 57720 and 57720 - 57825 and 57825 - 57898. Is this the latest?

Do I need to install as per the numbering system or just the latest?

Any other items to look out for during installing?

Regards

John

You have to do them in sequence. Disable your anti-virus, firewall and physically disconnect from the internet for safety.
SP1 takes hours to run but the two hot fixes only take a few minutes.

Do yourself a favour and take a snapshot of your existing TS12 installation first.

If you have DLC installed then that will download automatically when you are reconnected.

thanks for this patch, although it is huge in size, this patch solved a number of problems, such as opening and closing the firebox door on steam engines, and the tabs in surveyor mode responds faster!

I download the SP1 49922 to 57720. The excecution failed halfway of prodedure. 30 minutes I quit after two trial. What can I do to . If I laod again the two basic disc will I loose avery thing I have done witth the surveyor. I have a project in real scale with Montreal Maine & Atlantic from Farnham to Mégantic and St-Lawrence & Atlantic from Richmond to USA. I would not like to start all over again.

By 'failed halfway' did it come up with Patching Aborted or did it just appear to stop? Bear in mind that it's a very large patch.

If you choose to reinstall, backup everything in <trainz install folder>/UserData/local and <trainz install folder>/UserData/original before doing so.

Thank you Shane for taking time. I restart all over again. Build 46957 to47059 to 48249 to 49922 but failed again with 57720. I let it go for more than five hours whit no results. Is it possible that the graphics card as something to do with or intefere in the download process. My graphic card is a RADEON AMD HD6450 3D . Following the installation I just received a patch from them AMD_Catalyst_13.2_Beta5. I write to Tranz administrator for help but no answer yet. I'll keep you in touch. Guy

I can tell you that it can take up to and above 12 hours to install 49922-57720 so patience is key. As long as it does not say Patching Aborted, do not cancel it.

Patience is the key

Shane

I Shane, it takes 24 hours to install 49922 -57720. But now, and other problem occurs, I can not open or edit or create a route session. I reboot two times and it still the same. Is there some thing to do to fix the problem. Guy

All I can say is that you need a lot of patience and a lot of time to get this sp1 to load and then run.. I spent the better part of 3 days messing with this thing before I could get it to work.. What it all came down to was having to delete TS12 from my system and then reloading it with a virgin load.. I also did not activate the automatic updates for the program.. I just reinstalled the entire simulation and all the patches, including sp1 and hotfix 3.. When I installed the patches I disconnected my system from the internet and shut down all virus software. This way nothing could get into the computer to override the patches.. After the better part of 4 hours the simulation was back up with all patches installed.. I want to know who was able to load sp1 in 30 minutes and what kind of system you are using? I'm running a 3.4 quad core with 16mb of ram, a 1 terrabyte sata hard drive with over 600 gb still available, and one kickass 1gb NVidia video card.. It took this system over and hour and 20 minutes to to run the sp1 patch.. I invested over 16 hours, on and off, playing with this thing before I got it to load and work. After all of that the sim does work just fine even with my Fleet of Modernism and Marias Pass X additions loaded back on as well.. The progam and the scenarios that come with it still have some bugs but I've come to expect that with Trainz and NV3 progams, in general.. I've been a loyal Trainz fan from day one but all I can tell you N3V is you're going to have to do much better then this to keep customers.. Most people would have simply given up on this thiing and removed Trainz from their systems entirely.. For ease of operation and updating I also have Railways 3, Train Simulator 2012.. and so far, it's doing better then Trainz..

Where is the automatic thumbnail

    1. No
problem. Hopefully that new feature simplifies the
uploading/downloading of routes. (I have yet to see the
      automatic thumbnail generation though).

    1. System
      restore function, good or bad

    1. Don't forget that
most Windows computers have a system restore function, and
it is not necessary to re-install Trainz - I had the same
non launching problems after the patching was aborted by me
after 8 hours -I was able to relaunch to the unadulterated
program by restoring to an 'automatic system restore' date a
couple of days before trying to patch. In any event, a
system restore point should always be set before
      downloading/applying any new software!
      John

    1. John - are you aware of
one of the side effects of System Restore (the one that
deletes .exe and .dll files if they were not present in
their current form in the restore point)?Shane

    1. Shane answer

    1. As stated elsewhere, the
SP1 patch can take up to 12 hours to install. The reason AV
protection has to be disabled during patching is because it
interferes with the process and dramatically slows it down,
and in some cases it can cause the patch to fail.

I want to make a resume of the 172 comments. As you probaly notice I have problem to write my comment. Is there a way to do it right.

Your second long post was easier to read - it seemed to be a repeat but without all the white space. If you want to quote someone then put the word "quote' with square brackets [ ] around it. To end the quote put the word "/quote" at the end with square brackets again.

Try using the "Go Advanced" option which is down on the right bottom. Go Advanced allows you to preview your post and then correct things. I use it all the time.

I get the impression that english may be a second language? If so, your post is just fine as far as I am concerned.

Your fourth attempt section is the way to do it. I did it that way and it worked fine. I did have problems with SP1 initially but still had my anti-virus and firewall running.

Edit: You could always post your findings in a Trainz Blog entry and then just post a link to it.

Cheers

A question regarding EMD E Units coversion.
Somewhere in the past I read an article that included the conversion/modification of later EMD E units with the GP 9 or 10s. Essentially this was the dropping of the E unit body over the frame and motors of the GP unit. Cosmetically an E 8 or 9, but in reality a GP. I assume that would change the carriage from two A1As to four(4) powered axel units. Can anyone provide more elaboration of history of the process? Thanks.

hai, this servicepack is showing only one error regarding data.ja was not accessable.the process cannot be completed,
can any body tell me what to do.
