Many thanks to the people who have added to this thread. Don't worry - no black fives on The Scarborough Spa this time, just a poor shot of a superb loco. (71000 Duke Of Gloucester.)
I work nights and on Saturday dawn was really nice and colourful, as I finished work a sudden snow storm covered the ground. This train was due to pass as I was on my home, due to the weather I changed from my intended spot to this one. It's over the lines from Wakefield Europort but without sussing the spot earlier I found it difficult to pick my shot. What with this and the speed of the loco this is all I managed!

John

Hi John - when was this photo taken? I started a thread a week or so ago asking about details of the SSE (since at the moment I'm in the area for the next couple of years for a large percentage of the year), but I can't find any on the web, yet the photo shows something similar to the snowfall we had recently. Where do you suggest I look for information?

Regards and thanks,
BidMod.

Hi Bidmod, the photo of 71000 was last Saturday (2/2/08), my words were a bit misleading, the train was actually called the Tynesider! SSEs are summer trains!

Did anyone see photos of this train on the local news weatherphotos? They were taken a few minutes earlier at Horbury on the other side of Wakefield, lovely warm dawn sunlight, white covering of snow on the ground, and loads of black smoke. My feeble effort made we want to throw my camera away!

Hello Barchifowski, it's a fab photograph just like all the others that you take so please post a few more for us, even if they have got telegraph wires in, they don't distract too much and give the shot a bit of authenticity...You work is always admired Steve. QUALITY...

John, hey buddy, don't get too dispondant, it's a better shot than you think, so don't you dare throw your camera away, we need your thread contributions.......:hehe:

Cheerz. ex-railwayman.

Woe is me!

Steve (ex-r) hey don't mark me down as despondent, I'm just telling it like it is! There's more to worry about in life than a poor photo! You know I haven't moaned about DLS being down or announced umpteen times about leaving Trainz.

Going out in a few minutes to see the Cotton Mill Express attacking Copy Pit, fantastic Yorkshire Hills, a black steam loco working hard, the sun is shining, a pint of Timothy Taylors' Landlord and home in time for Mrs C coming home from work! By 'eck lad, despondent? Not me!

And If I get only 1 shot and it's awful you can bet your bottom Dollar I'll post it just for you.

John

Thanks man! I'm going railfanning today, so i'll be sure to post more. Thanks again!

for ex-railwayman!

hi Steve, enjoyable experience this morning, how many standard 4s have chime whistles? Taken this morning at Copy Pit Summit between Yorkshire and Lancashire, (near Todmorden)

Shame about the telegraph pole! Without it this would have been my favourite!

My stepson Craig stayed on an over bridge with my mate Craig (aka Tourettes' Grandad!)

The two Craigs could then see the train breast the summit as it travelled towards Lancashire!
