Another time asking about the safety of something.

Hi,
I have been wondering about the safety of Trainz Forge. It looks pretty enticing and I've seen their content in multiple Youtube videos, but this Reddit post made me decide no to try it for now:

If somebody could tell me if it is good or not that would be helpful.

Oh, and I got the "Trainz is half-registered" issue fixed, you should now see an avatar and my Trainz version :)

I've downloaded from there and had no problems. The thread on Reddit, by the way, is 10 months old and a lot changes in 10 months in the computer world. If you are concerned about downloading from TF, download into a virtual machine.

There are also some antivirus programs that are hyper and will block a lot of websites just because.

If you are concerned still, setup a virtual machine and install Linux. Ubuntu works great and I think it comes with Firefox ready to go. You can then send your content over to a shared drive or folder, or you can place your downloads on a USB stick and transfer the data then. I have actually done this when I've gone to foreign websites to stay on the safe side. It's inconvenient, but it works. Back in the old days when I did this, I used Solaris which is very difficult to setup, but it worked fine once it was configured.

I guess more in-specific would be if anyone had any trouble with the SPNG freight pack, the NCO loco pack, along with the Shortline Cab from Subpar Productions.

I have downloaded the short line cab since it's a dependency from Ben Neal and there was no issue with that. The other assets are no use for me since I didn't need them. To repeat what was said before, we have had no issues downloading from Trainz Forge. They do use Google drive to store their content, FYI.
