AnnouncingTrainz™ Simulator 2009 & Trainz™ Simulator X

Too bad more folks that have gone cannot or will not come back.

Train Simulator X - since it is an anniversary, why not follow similar tradition to how anniversaries are named after/related to something specific? 10th anniversaries in the US and UK are called the Aluminum Anniversary. Call it Trainz Aluminum? Some passenger cars are made from aluminum.
Train Simulator X makes me feel like I'm playing Vin Diesel or Ice Cube in a sequel.

It's like school reunion in this thread! Lots of fine folks I haven't seen in many a moon. Great to hear from Axe, Hentis, and the rest of the old gang.

Darrel

Yep It is like school reunion in this thread, even Bruce posted his top 3 requests today for TS 09.:)

Hehe, good news that everyone is getting interested! :D

Perhaps TRS2009 or X should be advertised on TV...lol...It may cost a bit though. :hehe:

Cheers,
Mike

WOW ........... it all sounds exciting!!! :p

I have been waiting for a full trainz simulation since TR2006!!!
I am happy to say that it's so refreshing to read that Auran is restarting, hopefully, an old yet a new approach with a new full trainz product!!

Is it clear to anybody what the difference is ( or will be ) between TRS2009 and TRS X? I have no clue still. Perhaps the ones that do can explain it for me?

Just make sure it runs on XP and you are guaranteed to outsell the new sim from Microsoft. I (and many others), will never switch to Vista.

The new MSTS will also be on XP. It wont be a vista title only.

As for the new Trainz simulator X. Im guessing the company auran cant come up with a original name except to follow suit of microsoft with naming their new trainz sim with the same as MSTS-X or MSFS-X. Pretty sad if you ask me.

Yeah, It is nice to see some of the old names coming back, even Smileyman is smiling and singing. :D
Now now.
I'm always smiling and singing.
It's just that sometimes my lyrics are hard for some people to hear.:hehe::hehe:

Yeah, there are a lot of the old gang in this thread.
Axe, you get the Lager, and I'll get the curry (vegetarian of course).

Now then, where's Overlord.

Smiley.

Well reading between the lines I'd imagine that TS09 will be all the routes and code improvements that we've seen to date from Trainz Classics (including the soon to be released TC3) combined with possibly one or two more routes such as the Glen Innes line by CW and the Carbon City route by CAB along with some of the changes that the dev team have been working on these past few months.

Am I right in thinking that TS09 will be a Q4 2008 release ?

With X I can see an even more 'polished' release that takes full advantage of 12 months worth of work featuring routes that are currently unknown and will fully utilise all the changes to Surveyor.

This will probably be a Q4 2009 release or possibly Q1 2010.

To set the record straight here.

MS used the title Flight Sim X as it was the 10th version of the software. When they first broke the news about a new train sim it was revealed that they would be using the core from FSX from which to build it, thus some in the community started to call the then yet to be named train sim Train Sim X !

MS have since decided to use the highly imaginative title "Train Simulator 2".

Now seeing as Auran's Trainz Simulator X (working title but one that I quite like) is being designed as a 10th anniversary edition I believe that Auran or anyone else for that matter is perfectly entitled to use 'X' pertaining to the number 10 in a products title.

Steve.:)

Tony said, on page 2 of this thread I believe, that Trainz Sim X is more of a working title than anything. I'd be rather surprised if they kept it.

Last time I checked, Microsofts MSTS2 web site said it will be Vista only, unless they changed their minds.

They aren't advertising it widely, but on a community-run forum that the TS2 crew frequents (I can't recall which) one of the TS2 dev members confirmed that it is being aimed at both Vista and XP. Anyone care to hook us up with a link?

Its been a while......
since I last visited these forums :o. But I havent really had any trainz time its not even on my PC but this other version could. Well you never know. Will it be backward compatable .... got crap loads of Decent UK stuff lying about just wanting to be used.

Cheers

Hentis

Good to see you surface...

Can't say: "see you" - am on holiday (visiting family) in Kuala Lumpur, thence to Hong Kong then China.

Maybe a beer in 'Brum if I can overcome my prejudice over car park charges:'(

Anyway...:D :D

Sounds better than Trainz IX + I, or XI - I, or VIII + II...

;)

Why is that sad ? Microsoft never called TS 2 MSTS X, that was the community and only because it is based on FSX ( and due to MSTS 2 being abandoned people couldn't use that as it was too confusing ) it was never a working title. FSX is called that because its the 10th version.

Seeing that it will be the 10th year of trainz Auran has just as much right to call it that than anyone else if they decided too.
