Anisotrophy and Sound

Can Anisotropy settings affect the sound in a game? After running my route (TS12) for a couple of hours, I start hearing an intermittent hissing sound, coming from either my locomotive or a passing A.I. train. It's like (pardon my poor example) "Hissss-Hiss-Hiss-Hissssss-Hiss-Hisssss-Hiss-Hiss". I think I had this problem a couple of years ago--- I even posted a UTube video on this forum somewhere, but couldn't find it.

Well, Anyhow, I had changed my video settings a day or so before and wondered if I did something there that caused the problem to resurface. I had moved my Anisotropy setting one notch to the left. I moved it back one notch to the right and my noise problem seemed to diminish. Could that in some way had caused my problem? I can't understand how Anisotropy could affect sound. Anyone out there have any ideas?

Thanks

Do you have a on-board sound card? Or is it a separate add on expansion card like a PCI or PCI-E card for instance? Also what about the video card what type is it? Your running TRS 12 so I definitely assume it`s a PCI-E video card.

Yes, PCI-E. Would that have something to do with the hissing?

Any help will be appreciated.

I would`nt believe PCI-E to have anything to do with it. Unless you have the card right next to your sound card and somehow it`s causing static interference from the video card. I use a addon Sound Blaster and a PCI-E video card. I alway`s try to keep them 1 slot apart. Any type of video card and sound card for that matter not just PCI-E. It`s a common practice of mine. I don`t know if it would be of any use or help though in your case. Id check make sure your speaker jack is firmly in all the way to your sound card. Also make sure your sound card and video card drivers are up to date sometimes older drivers do have issues with other devices I know. Later builds of the device drivers they work such issues out usually.

If it is a steam locomotive, it is probably the safety valve. Seems to be prevalent in TS12 due to changes in the steam physics that affect some of the older steamers.

It seems to only surface when I use certain locomotives. Like the SD70's and others from Sporbust or the older Dash 9's by Norfolksouthern37. I checked the assets that these two use and couldn't find anything sound-wise that both of these two types of locos use.

Sounds as though you may be getting some distortion. Have you tried removing and re-installing your sound card. How about your sound cards software setting? Something may have changed there. How old is the card? May be time for a new one. Also, you could pull the card entirely. If you have a newer computer, the built-in sound chips are very good these days. If my soundblaster ever goes, I probably won't replace it.
