Alternative to Trainzmap in 2009

Hi,
When I used 2006 I also used Vistamare Trainzmap.

I found it usefull to replace items en-block such as types of track, levers etc.

I have found that trainzmap doesn't work with 2009, so does anyone know if there is a quick way of replacing mass items or do we now have to replay every single item seperately?

It will be a pain if we have to replace track for example by individual sections!

Trainzmap is looking for a file called TRS2006.exe. Have a look in your TRS2006 folder and you will see it there.

Now, you can either copy that file to the folder where TS2009 is, or you can make a TXT file called TRS2006.TXT, then rename it TRS2006.exe.

The file can even be empty. Then you will find that the Vistamare Trainzmap works.

What Trainzmap will not work on is TS2009 maps that have been changed to the 5m grid, just hates them.

Give it a go, you can't wreck anything, at least I have not......yet.

All you need to do is tell Trainzmap where to look in TS2009.

We are all waiting for an updated Trainzmap PLUS, let's hope the original developer is still in the community.

You don't need TrainzMap for this, the capability is already built in to TS2009.

You use the replace assets item under the Surveryor's Menu.

There are two fields to fill in.

One for the asset you want to replace and the other for what to replace it with.

Choose the tab on the right depending upon what you want to replace, such as textures, scenary items, tracks, or trackside items.

Use the get item to pick the item you want to change. The item will be listed in the top type-in box and in the list. Drag the item from the list into the replace item field. Do the same for the replace with field. And apply the change. There are two options here. The first is for only what is visible on the screen, and the other is global, or the whole layout.

This procedure is great for updating assets as new ones come out in TS2009. I've used my old track for example, until I see a suitable track available for TS2009. When that comes out, I'll do the old replace thing. I've done this already for some trees, switch motors, and some roads.

Vistamare Trainzmap

I used to have Trainzmap to print specific parts of a aerea to have it at hand when I plans a route in AI. (trs2006) It wound´t work in TRS2009 when the route is new or updated from trs2006. I do appreciate the interest the Trainz community has shown for TrainzMap and I believe this indicates the program has some value. The primary reason for suspending the TrainzMap project is a chronic lack of time (with the diminishing support from Auran rating second...). I even thought of going commercial, as I imagine a number of users could/would spend an amount in the 5 - 10 EUR range to have better continuity and support. But at the moment I probably do not have the resources to provide the quality users would rightly expect from a paid product. As far as I am aware TrainzMap can only be used on TS2009 maps that use the 10m grid. Trainzmap cannot handle the file format for the 5m grid which didn't exist when it was written.
