Altering Auran Signals?

Some while ago I asked about altering the configs of Semaphore signals to move them further from the track; I was told how to do it , and it worked. However, I"d like to alter the Auran built in colour light "Signal BR1" so that its 4 Metres from the track. When I try to do this it either won"t budge or the name only (but not the Signal) shows up in Surveyor. Is it impossible to alter builtin Assets, or am I missing something?..

This may seem like a dumb question, but have you tried cloning the asset before you try to edit it? Don't know if it'll help, but try workign from a clone of the item forst if you can.

Yes I always Clone it unless I know I"m not going to use it anywhere else.I also noticed that the name of the Signal was listed in several different languages so I added the same word to the end of every one.Didn"t work...

Assuming you are using TRS2006....Open CMP.Find the Asset you want , e.g. LMS Home Semaphore.Click "Clone" then "View In Main List" then "Edit" and "Content Creator Plus".A PopUp will appear, click "yes".In CCP look in Trackside.Signals and other Track attached objects assume the centre of the track to be Zero.So delete the existing figure e.g. -2.5 and insert the distance (in Metres) you want the object to be from the track.A Minus value moves it to the left, a Plus value moves it right (but you don"t enter the Plus sign !" In Username add one word after Home Semaphore - I usually use the name of the place I intend to use it , e.g. "LMS Home Semaphore Ryhope". Click the Red cross to exit CCP and you"ll be asked if you want to save - click Yes. Back in CMP click "Edit" and finally "Commit". The item will now be available in Surveyor.

A much easier and safer (CCP takes forever and changes the trainzbuild to 2.6) way that also works in TRS2004 is to open the config.txt file for the signal and edit the parameter value for the trackside tag. If you're going to edit assets you should download the appropiate CCG (TRS2004CCG or TRS2006CCG).

Just remember if you make any changes to any asset and use them on a route on your own PC If you then upload the route to the Download Station, the changes will not be reflected in the route, as such assets ( Built in or custom) will show as they were origonaly.

And of course since you are Cloning someone elses work the Asset now has your name as its creator,so you would need to give due acknowledgment to the original creator.

In case anyone is interested , the answer is that (at least as far as the Auran Signals go) they can ONLY be altered in Explorer, not CCP. and the result is shown here. This signal was at Sleaford (UK) and had a Position One Feather (lit) for the Skegness line and a Position Four feather for the Main Line (the GN & GE Joint) to Spalding. This was because both lines were of equal status when the signal was installed but in the 1980s the Position Four feather was removed as the Skegness line was demoted to the "Branch".
