All about railways in Indonesia (beware of HD pics)

Thank you for that video and the beautiful scenes of your countryside!
You're welcome!

And speaking about video, here is a video about the historical Panarukan Line that unfortunately met its demise in 2004 (presumably December 20th, 2004, according to an account to one of railfan in East Java) :

This video was uploaded by the official account of Surabaya Railway Technical Management Office (Indonesian name : Balai Teknik Perkeretaapian Kelas 1 Surabaya) that fell under the jurisdiction of General Directorate of Railway of Ministry of Transportation, where the team interviewed people (including rail fans) who made researches about Panarukan Line, as well as those who had experience with driving train on the line prior to the closure in 2004. There is an interesting fact about the Krian roundel signal a.k.a sinyal tebeng Krian that kept to be used by this line right until its closure and is generally regarded as one of the oldest type of railway signalling equipment in Indonesia, where the ones at former Prajekan station (the exact one is downward home signal that served train from Kalisat) has been moved to the recently renovated Krian station and preserved there, since this unique signal had its history originated at Krian station.

Another new video related to the usual activities of Indonesian Railways, but this time from Malang city, where the author captured how the empty fuel train is switched back to Malang Kota Lama station after it was unloaded at fuel terminal near the station. Because there is a section of track running beside Halmahera street (which is also the street that became official address of fuel terminal itself), it is very popular among rail fans in Indonesia, along with the street running section of Wonogiri Line between Purwosari and Solo Kota, as well as the semi-street running section of branch line that led to Madiun Fuel Terminal.

In order to let other member of forum could post their own Streetview railfanning shots (yeah, I deeply apologize to Mr. Davesnow for flooding his thread with Indonesian shots 🙇‍♂️), I shifted posts for my Streetview railfanning shots from Indonesia to this thread :

[1] A usual thing of Kertapati station - part 1
Taken on January 2024

This shot featured CC206 144 (CC206 16 05) of Kertapati depot along with a string of empty coal cars, likely from the ones regularly in use by coal trains from Tanjung Enim Baru to Kertapati. Actually they are formerly used by Tarahan-bound coal trains (nicknamed as "Babaranjang"), and has been replaced by the newer units (either it could be those built by Chinese company or locally manufactured by INKA). One is the Canadian-built coal cars introduced in 1986, which is the original type introduced for serving coal trains from Tanjung Enim Baru to Tarahan (with the train began its operation in the same year). Another type seen in the same consist is the "ship hull-type coal car" that was introduced in year 2000 as part of fleet expansion, but according to a story it has structural problems that led to retirement of these unique coal cars from "Babaranjang" trains. Both of them has been modified to allow side dumping at Kertapati station's coal dumping yard, because originally they were built for rotary dumping (using RCD facility that is only available at Tarahan station).

[2] A usual thing of Kertapati station - part 2
Taken on March 2024

Another shot from around Kertapati station featured a locomotive that is likely CC204 22 (CC204 11 02) of Kertapati depot, also with a coal train consist but having ordinary flatcars with private coal-carrier containers as the default setup. Since the government of South Sumatra province issued a decree in 2015 that resulted in coal trucks were permanently banned from running on provincial roads, private coal mining companies began to cooperate with Indonesian Railways for transporting coal into their respective unloading stations, either it could be :

1. Kertapati (located just near the passenger station area)
2. Simpang
3. Serdang (a bit farther to the southwest of Palembang city)
4. Glumbang (even farther, since it is the neighboring station of Serdang station if heading to Prabumulih)

[3] Rumored as "ready to receive new generation coaches"
Taken on December 2023

CC201 64 (CC201 83 26) of Purwokerto depot is seen here speeding toward Gawok station with express train "Logawa" from Jember to Purwokerto. Although this train currently still using a mixture of 2nd class (Bisnis) and 3rd class (Ekonomi) coaches in one trainset, there is a rumor that "Logawa" would become the next train to receive brand new stainless steel coaches from INKA.

[4] Descending the mountain range
Taken on August 2023

The Streetview camera caught CC203 20 (CC203 98 08) of Cipinang depot with Pasar Senen-bound "Fajar Utama Yogyakarta" on its way to Prupuk station while descending the steep grade that became a "signature" of railway line between Cirebon and Kroya. Because of the grade itself, fuel trains from Maos that supplied Tegal city and its surrounding area had its consist limited to only 16 tank cars per train for loaded one, and these trains are allowed to pass Purwokerto station without stopping there.

Another new Indonesian railway Streetview shots :

[1] A rare shot
Taken on April 2024

CC201 105 (CC201 92 15) of Cipinang depot approaches Serang station with Merak-bound local train. Since there are no turntable at both Rangkasbitung and Merak stations, the train had to running LHF on return trip back to Rangkasbitung station.

[2] The mainstay of "pocket railway line"
Taken on May 2024

This shot featured CC201 09 (CC201 77 07) with Surabaya-bound "Rapih Dhoho" local train from Blitar via Kertosono, seen here entering Mojokerto station. As the train changes its heading at Kertosono, the locomotive had to be turned at the turn table (located just to the south of station itself) before could proceed forward to Surabaya.

[3] The unfortunate trainset

Taken on April 2024

Although seems to be just an ordinary shot, actually it featured the very first trainset of INKA-built 4 car DMU "KRDI" (KRDI3-08201 to KRDI3-08204, later renumbered as K3 3 08 01 to K3 3 08 04) in its post-refurbishment condition, with unit KRDI3-08201 (K3 3 08 01) had half of its interior modified to allow the installation of additional genset for supplying air conditioning unit (as it was firstly built as non-AC trainset, which could be easily identified from its still original side windows and ventilations). Unfortunately this trainset had to be temporarily taken out of service after crashing into a truck fully loaded with corn near Buduran halt a month ago, and currently undergoing repair in Yogyakarta workshops (though luckily this trainset was still able to move under its own power all the way to Yogyakarta).

[NEWS]

July 26th, 2024 marks the birth of first intercity passenger train in Indonesia that runs for more than 1000km, with the overnight train "Blambangan Ekspres" previously operated between Semarang Tawang (Central Java) and Ketapang (Banyuwangi, East Java) had its route extended all the way to Pasarsenen station in Jakarta. Because this train terminates at Ketapang station, it means that passenger who continues to the famous Bali island could take a 500m walk to the nearby Ketapang ferry port (which is the gateway to Bali island from Java), as well as changing to the Java to Bali intercity bus operated by state-owned DAMRI (short for Djawatan Angkutan Motor Republik Indonesia) that also took the ferry for crossing the Bali strait to Gilimanuk ferry port.

As the train uses a combination of executive class coaches and refurbished economy class coaches with rotateable seat (a product of Manggarai workshops), the train is categorized as "mixed-class train" by Indonesian Railways.

After searching for some hours (days?), I present you the special Streetview shots of Indonesian Railways that featured locomotives painted back into revival colors :

[1] PJKA Cream and Green color

A. CC201 69 (CC201 83 31) - GE U18C

This loco is seen at Tegal station in this May 2024 shot with a string of flatcars, although I assume that it could be those that already received regular maintenance at Tegal workshops (Balai Yasa Tegal).

B. CC202 17 (CC202 90 02) - EMD G26MC-2U

As of March 2024 (the month when this shot was taken), this loco still carried its revival color, and seen here waiting for departure from Tarahan station with empties back to Tanjung Enim Baru station. Compared to the newer 3rd batch unit of CC205 (EMD GT38ACe), it is clearly shown that CC202 is already considered as an "old but still powerful".

[2] Perumka Red and Blue color (excluding those still used in South Sumatra and Lampung divisions)

CC201 129R (CC201 83 49) - GE U18C

This March 2024 shot successfully captured the strange (yet popular) CC201 129R with "Logawa" train from Jember to Purwokerto. From September 18th, this train was officially upgraded to New Generation stainless steel coaches constructed by INKA, which eliminated the Business class coaches (returned back to Economy class-only train, just like when the train began to rolling on the rail) but having much better facility than the older ones. As CC201 129R had its cabin converted to CC203-like ones in 1990s by Lahat workshops (Balai Yasa Lahat) of South Sumatra division, this loco originally belonged to South Sumatra division, before it was moved to Java in 2012 (along with the now-scrapped CC201 130R that also had same CC203-like cab, as well as CC201 101, CC201 102, CC201 134R and CC201 135R that kept its original cab).

----------------------------------------

Now the only one still not captured by Streetview's camera is CC203 40 (CC203 02 03), which returned back to its original white with two-tone blue stripes (albeit with some false design for the stripe itself).
