Advertising?

Ads, what ads? Every time I see one I slay it with my trusty Firefox and AdBlockPlus. Boom - gone.

I have discovered that Internet Explorer 8 has the built-in ability to block ads, using the feature called InPrivate Filtering. Uing this, I have managed to block the ads on these forums. The ads are replaced with blank white squares. I think that I will turn it back off, though, until I see another inappropriate ad like the one that I mentioned earlier in this thread. I believe that I have gotten used to the ads being here on the forums by now.

I now get fairly regularly a popup which informs me "Internet Explorer has modified this page to help prevent cross-site scripting". Often, but not always, the advert window only has a # in it, so I assume there is some problem with the links in the adverts. Let's hope this doesn't lead to any nasty problem.

I think the only agenda that Google has is to make as much money as possible, and put up adds, regardless who pays for them.
