specgrey.texture missing

3Ds MAX will be my demise
G'day!

After mucking around with TransDEM, I managed to get a small portion of some CSX track, not sure which or where it was from, and create a small module of sorts. I then decided I needed some more CSX locomotives, so I dug through my external HDD looking for stuff, I came across the CSX C40's from USLW which I last used in Trainz 09. So I though I'd install them, but I've com faced to face with the ferocious and dreaded "Error: Texture 'mesh_body/specgrey.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh 'mesh_body\mesh_body.im'." error. I've done some research on the error and specgrey.texture and found a number of users who had encountered the error and some who had managed to fix it. I found a thread from 2011 and followed exactly what a user had posted, and it didn't appear to work, The steps I did were:

1. Copy a .tga file in the mesh_body folder and rename it to 'specgrey.tga'

2. Made a .txt folder and put inside 'Primary=specgrey.tga
Tile=st'

3. Saved the .txt file as specgrey.texture

4. Saved and commited.

And the error still persists with CMP constantly bugging me about the broken asset like a whining child telling me to fix a broken toy. :hehe:

Anyway. Any work around this?

Cheers! :)

Jake.

Alternatively you can remove the txt file calling for the missing texture from the folder.

G'day!

@GP30Fan. Tried that earlier. Didn't work.

@Euphod. I've done that too. To no avail.

Cheers! :)

G'day!

@Euphod. I know what you are going to say. :hehe: And yes, I have cloned the item and applied the change, still getting the error.

Cheers! :)

Try changing the texture file to a .bmp, and then change the reference in the texture.txt file to .bmp.

G'day!

Error: The texture 'mesh_body/specgrey.bmp' failed to load.

Any ideas?

G'day!

I noticed PEV's post and have PMed him regarding the fixed meshes. I'm hoping he can get back to me soon

Cheers! :)

If you read the rest of the thread the required mesh fix is available in the NS locos here http://checkrail.com/third-party-dl.htm

There is no publicly available fix for the CSX locos due to licensing, but you can fix them yourself in 10 seconds by copying the mesh-body.im file from the NS locos into the CSX ones...

Rastis,
The specgrey texure is missing from within the mesh-body im file, which cannot be opened for alteration.
Andy's suggestion is the only solution.

I thought by providing that thread to Rastis he would have taken that course of action, but he may have his reasons for taking a different route.

G'day!

Alll fixed. That's Dermmey for supplying that link and to everyone else that helped me! :D

Cheers! :)
