Accessing newly installed TRS19 and DLC's?

I recently purchased TRS19 (North American version) and three DLC's on Steam. TRS19 and the three DLC's successfully loaded into the library and are installed. I can use the tutorial but cannot access/play the main game/routes nor the three DLC's. I am logged into my trainz account but do not have a membership. Can anyone provide guidance on how to resolve the unplayability of my purchases?

I have played the tutorial for more than 2 hours so I cannot return the game. I should be able to return the DLC's if need be... The best scenario for me is to be able to play the game and ride off with a smile!

What do you mean you cannot play the game? Does it throw some kind of error? Does it hang or crash? There should be multiple tutorials available plus the routes that come with the package. What happens when you try to run one of those?

This is embarrassing. I could only find the tutorial for the main game this afternoon but the routes and DLC's were not available. I shut the computer down and came back 4 hours later. I can now access more tutorials, the main game routes, and my purchased DLC's. Hooray! I don't know what changed but I am happy that it did! Maybe just a senior moment, using an underpowered laptop, or both...

When you install DLC packages to the base install of the game, the game needs to rebuild the indexes of the game's database. This process is normally pretty quick but it can vary. Perhaps, you started the game before it had completed fully and therefore the game didn't yet know that the DLC packages had been installed. Since the tutorials are part of the base install of the game, the game is already aware of them. By the time you restarted the game, the indexing process had completed and everything was as it should be. I doubt it will happen again. Another tip is never shutdown your computer immediately after quitting Trainz. The program does some database housekeeping after quitting the game and shutting down your computer can cause problems that can require the game to rebuild the database the next time you start the program. I always wait 5 minutes after quitting Trainz before I shutdown the computer.
