I ran the program converted the file to tga, now how do I tell the im/mess file to use the new graphic file. I thought I had did it using the asset x program, but cant figure out how to do it.

The image that a mesh uses is defined by the texture.txt file.
The texture.txt file must be named exactly as the texture is named in the mesh, with a '.texture.txt' extension. Your image file is then referenced from the texture.txt file. See: http://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php/Texture_file
Using AssetX ensures the texture.txt file is formatted correctly, but you can create it using any text editor, if your are careful.
I read here on forums that you have to commit the asset for the change to show up, not sure if I did that or not. How ever I could swear I did not have to do that a few years ago.
