did you guys here the news! the world is in fact not going to end if you can't tell if someone is actually banned or not?

At least no-one has put that they was "Bummed" (as in tramp, street Bum, hobo etc)

Some people could take that the wrong way.....

Regards.

Guyz, I could be wrong, but perhaps what AJ really mean here is why bother labeling yourself when it could be a lie, that you where ban!

I mean, for example, would I wear a shirt that says "I went to prison for stealing a Peanut butter sandwich" when in fact that never happened -- kind of stupid, right! LOL

Also, I think it gives a bad expression from N3V point of view, in that, they are not going around these forums banning folks left and right --

So, it's a matter of truth ---

Just My 2 cents! LOL

Ish

It s funny how some forum members wet themselves when this sort of thread pops up. It was just a suggestion, you don't have to comply. I certainly wouldn't label myself banned as it conveys a negative message. It's also not funny or cool to do this sort of thing, and sometimes I see all these fake bans and think N3V must be really harsh. I totally agree with you on this AJ.

i think it's just as funny as you putting 'No idea...Possibly Siberia!' in your location... nothing to get worked up about, read it, chuckle, move on.

I was starting to thinking that N3V had lost total control of the forums since banned people were being able to still post

I don't agree. They are totally different things.

So if we see Banned against a member who has been excluded for seriously breaching the CoC we just chuckle and move on do we?

People who post grossly offensive material or links to inappropriate or offensive sites get banned but I don’t find them hilarious.

The problem is that there is now no way of knowing the “comedians” from the real offenders.

Of course placing the word Banned dishonestly could be a very clever way of closing ranks around a friend who has been genuinely banned for a misdemeanour. I’m not suggesting that’s happened, but it’s a real possibility which crossed my mind when this all took off last November.

this is completely absurd, obviously banned people cannot be posting. this doesn't help to identify anyone, and even if it did, who gives a flip?

why does every little thing at this forum turn into this nonsense? this thread is useless and i'm not wasting my time looking in it anymore...

Banned people could be posting if they have found a hole in the forum security or hack and taken control of the forums.
There was a case in Australia where a hacker took over the NBN Nantional Broadband Network posing as an administration for almost a week until someone twiged to it

I think if someone could do this they wouldn't waste there time hacking the forums that really doesn't accomplish anything, someone banned could simply make another account...

Yeah, this isn't really an issue. Just saying. In fact, if this is an issue then people should have to make sure that their current location in their profile is 100% up to date and I demand that N3V Happiness assurance agents verify this information monthly.

And I mean no disrespect to AJ_Fox by the way. I do understand the issue that you bring up about it being confusing. I just don't get why everyone is suddenly freaking out about it like it actually matters or will result in massive hacker attacks via this particular subheader.

I personally feel its about respect for the forums - like my pet beef the signature banner size rules if you have respect for the forums you will follow the rules.

That and there are certain rules that ACMA and ASC impose on N3V as an Australian Company.

You do know calling someone a Curr in Australia is a very nasty insult

Yes, but did you know that
original

Also did you know that the phrase "pet beef" is very insulting to women should you apply it to women? See, I too can relate things to other things that are completely unrelated to each other. Oh, and there has been no slight against the forums and no rule has been violated by the whole banned thing so yeah, there is no lack of respect against the forum. Also, what the hell do ACMA and ASC guidelines have to do with the forum or adding banned to your title? And do they legitimately have that much affect on international forums that they can nitpick things like adding banned to your title?

Personally, I feel you have caused a far greater disrespect to the forum by your blatant disregard for proper punctuation in that first sentence. Do you not feel that this forum is good enough to grace with a comma here or there in order to properly convey your thought? Do you have such little respect that you brazenly continue on your merry way, leaving those commas behind like the cliched kid picked last for baseball? You even went so far as to pick the far less popular, and much more awkward hyphen instead of using a comma in its natural role. Those poor, poor commas. Don't worry, you can live in my post. ,,

Oh, and I have never heard of this horrible insult and neither has google so I am going to call BS for now. Unless you are talking about "cur" which isn't Australian, and really isn't that bad. Cur- A dog of mixed, or disreputable breed. As an insult, calling the reputation of someone's lineage into question.
