A Note to all regarding designated yourselves as Banned

Hello All

Just a passing note about those Trainzers who choose to designate themselves as "Banned" users when, in fact, they are not banned by NV3 or their Moderators. That can be confusing to other Trainzers who may see a caption as being banned to an otherwise constructive member of the community as a less than flattering credential.

In others words, if you haven't been banned, why would you want to have your fellow Trainzers think that you are?

Cheers

AJ

I agree with you there AJ. One small correction - it's N3V, not NV3.

I'm not 100% sure where it started from, but I do know there are various variations on that theme like Beered and Bamed.

LOL I'm do for a new eye prescription next week. I think it's the scratches on the lens.

Cheers : )

AJ

you remind me about my brother in law - He had the electrician out to check why his lights had become so dim in the house and found out later he needs spectacles.:D

Heh, not quite that bad here. I think keeping the sunglasses in the ball pocket of the golf bag was not so good of an idea after all.

Cheers

I'm under the impression it stemmed from some people getting temp-bans and the designation didn't revert to "Trainz Veteran" or whatever after the ban was lifted. Then others started parodying this. Harmless, imo. I think it'll be a bigger issue if people started designating themselves "Moderatress" or something.

Good Morning, AJ

I've seen that done at other forums, and are usually done by youngsters trying to portray an outlaw type of thing --- kind of childless if you ask me!

Ish

See, AJ. Some people don't have "lives" where they can be badass. They then decide to do it on a computer Simulator forum

AJ,

Just leave a note that you are going to fix those people with the "banned" title that you forgot to ban. I'm sure most will change their title :hehe:.

I think the inference is that as they proclaim themselves as 'Banned' how do they get away away with posting on the forum if they are in fact banned.

Peter

Why doe's it really matter as if that upsets most here next it will be that you have 84 and 11 years of Trainz under your username and that would upset those who havn't been in the game that long. I think there are more important issue's with the game then whats written under your username.
Mick.

You guys are just being too dam picky about this hole thing they use the title "banned" because they feel like it. I really don't see the big deal about all of this and really don't care to if they wont to use throws titles then power to them I seen much worse things the a title marked "banned" this is just another useless thread.

Genuine bans can often be seen coming. I don’t think I've ever seen one that wasn't deserved. Until recently that is. Now that a few clowns are placing the word themselves, it negates the value of the process.

I use the word, “clowns”, in the nicest possible way. I'm all for good humour on the Forum, but the perpetrators have probably not though through the effect of their attempt to provide amusement.

The word Banned, when properly assigned by Admin, is a signal that the individuals concerned, for whatever reason, are in the hall of shame.

So perhaps trying to kid people along that you really have been banned is not such a smart thing to do.

I suggested in a previous similar (now closed) thread late last year that maybe the software could be programmed so that only Admin can apply that word. We'd then know that when it appears, it really means what it says.

Substitute words such as band, bland (very appropriate!) and other close matches could still get through but we would see those, as we do now, for what they are.

I rather like the genuinely creative and amusing use of many of the Members User Titles. Long may they thrive.

But let’s leave the Banned title for those who genuinely are.

Cheers
Casper

With all due respect I think you have missed the point.

Truthfully stating your age and Trainz experience at that age, IMHO, is both honest and something to be proud of.

Proclaiming that you are Banned when you aren't, is neither.

Surely the simplest course of action is for the forum software not to allow certain key words to be used within individual sub-titles? I assume there is already some sort of language/inappropriate word filter applied so just extend this to include "banned".

Ultimately it's N3V's forum so you (the mods and admins) are the guys who need to change this, no good just asking people not to do it!
