A new era of Trainz begins

With over 1,500 supporters and close to $175,000 in pledges, the Trainz community has made a statement to the world...

"We want a new version of Trainz, and we're ready to support N3V Games and help them create it"
.

With 28 Pioneer Council members and 33 Enthusiast Group members there is a huge wealth of knowledge and experience to help strengthen the communication channel between customer and developer. Then there are 500+ Senior Engineer and higher backers who each will vote on prioritizing the Stretch Goal list. In a little over a month from now we will know which features you would like to be added to Trainz, but what we won't know, is when those features will be added.

To get more features and to get them sooner, we need to expand our development team, and to do that, we need your support. It doesn't have to be much - even a $5 pledge entitles you to regular email updates about the progress of the project and with 600,000 registered forum users, every little bit could add up to one very big amount.

Thx so much for your swift and good reply. It have been a blast until now... and the next few days will be even more thrilling just to see how far it will go.

As a Trainz fan from before the first release back in 2001 it have been amazing to see the evolution that have been so far. And the “Trainz a New Era” will be a huge leap forward without a doubt.

Meh, it looks like it'll be the FSX and FS2004 case, one will run smooth, so people will stick with it, and the other one, will require a very good computer to run smoothly....

Hope so it will will have some playable minimum requirement for my PC to run smoothly....and be processor independent...:/

except the new engine will probably improve performance? Nice work bumping an optimistic thread with your pessimism though

I started with TS2004 which, at the time, gave me great enjoyment. When the later versions arrived it was clear that improvements were being made, apart from the gross Speedtrees in TS2010.

I bought TS12 as soon as it became available in the UK. It wasn’t many months before I ditched it and looked, in vain I must admit, for a better simulator.
In earlier versions many steamlocomotives were available, thanks to the users who created and maintained them, and then let us have them free of charge. TS12 seemed to have very few, indeed the UK scene has clearly beenpushed to one side.
In the last few days I have reinstalled TS12 after a long rest from it. I have installed all the patches, hoping that much would have improved, and I paid for a First Class download ticket so that I could delete all the non-UK stuff and then download only UK assets. I should have saved my money: the Download Station is still as full of rubbish as it ever was and it is as confusing to sort out largely because not enough discipline has been imposed on uploaders. Forexample, region codes are not always entered where they should be; descriptions are often absent from the Asset Details panel; obsolete and outdated objects abound, as do the references to missing dependencies.
I returnedto that magnificent route, the Kings Cross to Newcastle line, and rediscovered that, without a top-of-the-range gaming PC, it is still a jerky mess, never mind the time it takes to load. It was too ambitious a project, resulting in a not very impressive appearance.
Let us hope the next version works to everyone’s satisfaction, although I have my doubts unless N3V are prepared to accept responsibility for continuous quality assurance, moderation of user-created assets and good management of the asset database.

You must be using the wrong download station, from the one I use I have downloaded 27 high quality UK steam locomotives since Xmas (and these are the new ones released so far this year - that's less than 2 months) :p !

Are you using the Content Manager to search the DLS or the old web based 'black pages' ?

If you are not currently using Content Manager I strongly suggest you should, if you are already using it you need to investigate it's facilities in more depth, I can point you to some documentation.

I would agree that some of the tags (codes) for content are not used, or not used properly, but you get to know which those are and ignore them. It may be an idea for some of them to be made obsolete for TANE/T2. There is no practical way that N3V can 'discipline' content creators into certain practices or fully police the DLS, not ideal but we don't live in an ideal world.

Cheers

Chris

I Agree with ALL the above
, unless there is going to be a time limited demo for me to test on my computer I wont be buying any new versions !

Hi,
I can not download TANE, my computer stopped at 512MB download it. Does anyone have an idea?
24GB Ram, CPU 5i

Use a download manager, then if it stops you can restart it. Pretty much common sense for very large 8GB files.

Hi,thanks for that, unfortunately, I get the following error message:

Odd as just checked and the download is working ok here, what's producing those messages? Some kind of over enthusiastic Anti virus program?
