Out of all the people out there who work with Trainz, somebody must know why I can't get Content Manager to work. It didn't work in 2006 and Auran suggested I get 2009 which I have done but that doesn't work either.:'(

The computer is:
Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz
2GB RAM
nVidia 7600GT 256Mb
CA Internet Security Suite 2009
Game is not installed on C

I have cable internet, Auran verifies my username and password and registration number. I have a First Class Ticket valid for another 250 days.
I can see the items in the Download Station but when it tries to download, the items get highlighted in red.

Please Help:confused:

Hi David,

Just for kicks, try disabling your firewall. I know this can be dangerous if done all the time, but this is only to see if it is conflicting with CM2. If this is the case, then you need to adjust the ports to all CM2 to access the DLS.

This to me seems to be the problem because your system is quite capable of running the program, and the fact that you can access the DLS, see the items, but can't download them.

Thanks John, I tried that and it made no difference. As of this morning, South Australian time, Trainz won't even run. (2006 or 2009).
I re-installed 2009 (after uninstalling) and got the following message:

Unable to execute file:
G:\Games\TS2009\Trainz.exe

CreateProcess failed; code 14001.
This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

I am at my wits end:'(

Hi David,

Try uninstalling the game again, but before you reinstall you might need to clean your registry because Windows has become confused. You can do this manually if you have the experience. If you do not, I don't recommend a manual clean-up. Therefore get someone to help you, or try a registry cleaner such as CC-Cleaner, or Advanced System Tools (recommended). These will remove the unused keys that Trainz is referring to.

The other thing too is clean up any temporary files. This can confuse installers and programs if they are left behind. CC-Cleaner will do this as well and so will ATF.exe (Advanced Temp File remover, which I also recommend). Advanced System Tools will also clean up your temp files too if you set it to do so.

Once your system no longer has any traces of Trainz, except for your content, which I hope you have backed up, reinstall the program as you normally would. Launch Trainz, and put in any patches that are requested at download including SP1.

Let the patches update and repair the Trainz database. Once this is done, relaunch Trainz to see if it works. If this works, reimport your personal content should you have any.

This process can take time, but in the end things should work. (You'll notice that I didn's say will work. This is a tech's safety net. ;) )

Good luck and let us know how things work out.

John,

I went through your suggestions, cleaned the registry etc but no good. I ended up re-formatting the C drive and re-installing TRS2006 but ended up with more problems.

Refer http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=43916

I am still waiting for suggestions that might work but it appears I may now have a bad Windows install so I am going to use a NEW hard drive ans start again.

Cheers,

David

Hi,

I've installed TRS 2006 TC 3 and TRS 2009 onto another hard drive (i.e. g:\).

Both the C:\ drive and the G:\ drive are SATA (not IDE). I've had no problems with either, though the install program needs to be "pointed" to the correct location (TRS 2004 wants to be on the C:\ drive).

So it should work for you...

A couple of thoughts...
Obviously CM2 can see the download station - when something appears in red, it usually means that CM2 can't find the item on the DLS.
Try changing the settings for the CM2 (i.e. use Internet explorer - or proxy etc - I'd suggest the IE ones unless you know better!).

One other test - use the "download station" tab above, and then select something for TRS 2009 (try one of the Auran Textures for 2009) - using the DLS search function.
Now click on the Download - using download helper button. This should place the item into the CM2 download pane.

If you have CM2 open (but minimised) the icon onm the bar will flash.

last thoughts - you did all the installs and patches with the virus checker "off"?

HTH
