Trainz 2009 Patch Slower Than a SLUG!

I have Trainz 2009, which is notorious for its crashes. Today alone, it crashed around ten times in total, when deleting various splines and tracks.

I run to get the patch, and start installing. Never anywhere does it tell me that people have had 35 HOURS of MISERY with powerful quad core desktops whilst trying to install this stupid patch. Never anywhere does the patcher tell me what percent is complete, or an estimated time remaining. At the very least, it should give me a warning at the start saying that the patch could take a very long time...

But no, because Auran/NV3 apparently don't give a damn.

I have lectures in a couple of hours, and I need to take the laptop to various places and rooms around the university. You can see the **** storm that is brewing already - I either:

1. Make my installation corrupt. Start over again.
2. Leave my laptop on while moving around, and risk losing my work/data if the hard drive fails.

Auran/NV3, this is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. Once again, you have shown only an interest in GREED and making money out of software. You don't care about the users at all, you just release poorly programmed software and expect people to put up with it because they have already purchased it. This is even before I get started on forcing users to pay extortionate prices for FCT's in order to escape from 5kb/s download speeds. (It is almost 2012 - internet is CHEAP!)

Yet again, Auran/NV3 apparently don't give a damn.

I will NOT EVER be buying from a software company such as AURAN/NV3 with such poor performing products again.

If you read the pages where patch information is given, you would know that it is advisable to do patching overnight, as patching takes anything from 1 and a half hours to 3+ hours.

With relation to the FCTs, internet connections may be cheap, but servers are not.

Strange, I have no notorious crashes with my TS 2009

Perhaps something is corrupt on your PC?

But no, because Auran/NV3 apparently don't give a damn.

They do, they are very nice people.

Might be better to concentrate on your education rather than play with Trainz.

Most people are happy with N3V and the low cost of the FCT.

Thanks for letting us know about the New Year.

N3V will be crushed to hear that, but they will make most people happy.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I'm a bit puzzled by the "powerful quad core desktops" and "I need to take the laptop", which is it? In any case, use the disk cleanup to get rid of all the old temp files, Trainz patchers have a big problem sorting through unrelated old junk files in the temp folder. Empty the recycle bin, defrag the hard drive. After installing TS2009, ANYWHERE EXCEPT \Program Files (X86) if you have vista / win7 (I know it defaults to that, change it!) copy the entire TS2009 folder to a backup before you try patching - then if the patch fails you merely delete the corrupt folder and copy the backup in so you don't need to reinstall. Test after each patch, make another backup before starting the next patch.

I agree it's a royal pain especially with TS2009 since there are four patches you need to go through, I had my system all prepped and ready and it still took me 2 days to get through all the patches to SP4.
