2006 SP1?!

I may be wrong but I think the Patch should be installed before even opening TRS2006 and most certainly before reinstalling any content.

I didn't run it at all, I just re-copied the 'local' folder back into the directory.

Could be it may give running errors because of the install sequence. Hope this helps as your PC specs seem very good.
