1000km (very large pictures )

Personally I dont like rolling stock splines,I think they look stupid. As you can see from the first screenie I like detail and rolling stock splines are not detailed. And yes there is a lot of forest area, probably about 800 km of it and a few places where I have merged some of my more detailed layouts.

Rolling stock splines are taken from real rolling stocks.... it's just copying and pasting the texture onto them, that's all ...

Anyhow, great looking pictures ... & good luck with your route!:)

Hey Doc

Cool looking shots! Though I'm thinking that maybe I should have copyrighted the name Ultramegaroute!!!:hehe:

What part of Toronto are you in? I'm in Mississauga, and have started toying with the idea of recreating the Lakeshore West line between Toronto and Oakville for starters. I've started in what I consider to be the most difficult part, which is the Mimico Via and Go yards - there is an awful lot of track there.

Anyway, I hope to be able to try out your route some day. Is it all DLS stuff or is there 3'rd party content involved?

Cheers

Thank for the comment. It is funny than when somethings is really big we tend to all call it ULTRAMEGA something in this case (route). When I first got into Trainz ( a few years back ) I did the Mimico yards and it was fun to do.But since the I have done a couple of hundred routes which have come and gone.Right now I am working on a few layout ( this one, The GO Transit System and Stockholm Tunnelbana V2.) As for this layout I am tying to keep ia all DLS stuff, although some of the better looking stuff will have to be 3rd party items.

The End...........

Well I finally finished my 1000km layout. It is totally detailed and totally useless.I average 2-5 fps throughout. As I see it, is no good making a layout this large as it is not useable. To make use of all the work I put into this I have cut it up into ten 100km pieces. At least each 100km portion runs at a reasonable framerate (25-40).

Bigger the better is only good if you are the only one ever wanting to use it.Or if you do a poor job detailing. But if the layout is highly detailed as I do my layouts, bigger is no better.

I will be uploading Part A of my 1000km route. There are 10 parts for the entire route. Each part is a standalone route but for those wishing to merge the lot, it will be a simple process as each piece merges flawlessly to each other. You will simply have to reattach the track.
PS. each part is approx 10meg.
