I have been playing with a 1/9 arc DEM of Sacramento and there seems to be quite a difference between the raster maps and the Ortho Photos.

The SP shop on the raster maps looks to be quite extensive and I guess they have torn most of it out from looking at the Orthos.

So if I were to start on this map would people like to see the SP shop as it IS or as it WAS?

As one who is doing SP circa 1962 (Stockton to Milpitas) I say as it was.

Just so you can see what I mean here is the raster.

As you can see there are a lot of east west track laid out...

Here is the ortho of the same area...

As you can see they have torn out the tracks and it is orientated mostly north south now...

Yes it quite sad indeed they have torn up all the track and left the shops to rot. It's because the Sacramento Yard was no use to UP as they have a yard a few miles up in Roseville.
