Hi.

Last night I turned on the computer and clicked on ts2010. The first screen came up and I hit start. But 2 seconds later, a screen came up that said :

Error

your computer hardware and or software is unable to communicate with Trainz. Ensure you have:
-Installed DirectX9
-Installed the latest drivers for your video card.(i.e. at www.nvidia.com or www.ati.com )
-Tried both OpenGL and DirectX settings. (Trainz Launcher-> Configure Trainz-> Display Settings )

If the above does not work, please consult your manual or visit technical support at http://www.auran.com/trainz/technical_support.htm

I am only 12 and have no idea what this means. I have the blue comet downloaded into it, if that helps.

We need more information.

What is your graphics card?

Have you made sure that your DirectX is up to date? (I have a sticky thread in this forum that will give you instructions for updating that - http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=58843)

Also, you will need to register your TS2010 in order to use the Download Station and to install patches.

Shane

EDIT: It may be worth having a read of my sticky thread first, and see if that helps.

You may need help from someone older than you to do the next stage.

The process for identifying a graphics card is:

1.Click Start, then Run.
2.In the Run box, enter 'dxdiag' then click OK.
3.If you get any yes/no questions, it is safe to click Yes.
4.Click Display - next to 'Name' is the name of your graphics card.
5.Once done, click Exit.

I got that error once. A System Restore to the day before fixed that. I had tried all the obvious stuff like updating DirectX and installing newer video drivers with no luck.

System Restore is under Start->All Programs->Accessories-System Restore

You may be right there, but it is worth trying all avenues in case it is in fact a driver problem.

I have heard though from another thread that simply restarting the system can fix that error.

Would it help if the OP.....>>az109<<.... registered his/her TS2010?

Just wondering.
