Beware of Some updates

I have recently updated some kuids originally created by "Eldwane" They are
kuid:64819:37500 A-Autoroute 2x2 voies
kuid:64819:37507 A-Autoroute 2x2 voies simple
kuid:64819:37502 A-route sortie
They are built-in road splines. Problem is that the texture for the new updates are missing. Cars still appear and drive but there is no road surface visible. I checked the folders of the originals and the updates. The texture files have been converted into TGA's. I presume this was done so as to remove the red marker in CMP. However the fixing of the original errors has created this error. I tried deleting the updates but the original built-in roads don't show up anymore, being flagged as having updates available. Anybody help?

Delete and re download the originals. Is there a reference to the TGA's in the newer config or has it been left as a bmp, if so change it.

Thanks Fran1, however the originals are built-in items. they cannot be deleted. They are automatically made redundant when the update is installed. I have learnt that at least if I don't download the update then the original will still function correctly.

Right, we'll go at it from another angle.
I see you have 2006, I've checked CMP and they are there but not built in. Download them into 2006, make a cdp and transfer into 2010 after disabling the faulty items.

Just checked 2010CM and it will let me delete the items.

Tried that before I posted. How did you manage to delete built-in items from 2010 CMP? I disabled them, but cannot delete. The originals from my 2006 CMP did not install because 2010 CMP notes that there are existing built-in items with the same kuid.

Yes, However you can clone the obsolete version which should give you a working visible version.

The problem with content from that builder is non-english characters (french chars with accents in his case) in his texture names. I found the only way to repair them is to download as a *.cdp and load into TRS2004 and edit the name there.. TRS2006 onwards does not load the textures.

In TRS2004 you can process the meshes with PM2IM which will remove the non-english characters in the texture references. Then you have to go through and rename all the affected texture.txt files or .textures.

It's very tedious..

Thanks. I will try the cloning first. Never done that. Looks easy enough. Pev's solution is the best, however tedious as he mentioned.
