I think you are looking for Dreddy's,"Housez" 13013:17001847.

Oops I think they are the old ones for placing well away from the tracks.
The ones he did of "Aurans" houses, also in splines, were called "Streetz"

Probably 2004 ?

I understand TS2010 doesn't like spines from a performance point of view. Perhaps just use ordinary houses?

hi norm

housez i have, but they will be used in the far distance

i also have house8 spline, kuid2:97008:50030:1
but they are only 6 and i cant drag them too far

thanks to you i found single streetz 13013:170018476:1

i found links on the net to

streettz kuid2:13013:190966:1
streetz kuid2:13013:170018474:1
then i also found shopz kuid2:13013:170018475:1

thats all i could find.

hi john
i have not tried to drive the route as yet,
but single houses will put the poly count up way too high

even if only for a small country towen of 1000

unless someone knows of some low poly houses that are suitable for a 1950's 60's era

thanks for the help

When you use the same house in a scene Trainz remembers how to "draw" it so the load is much less than using 1,000 different houses. TS2010 dumps things on the GPU and my understanding is that splines are still processed on the cpu which can cause bottleneck problems.

I set up Albert street as a block of 48 houses but that's UK based what sort of things are you looking for?

Low poly still carries an overhead of 500 poly equivalents per asset by the way, Trainz doesn't always work the way you think it might.

hi john

i need a variety of south east queensland houses to put into small and medium sized town along the route that i am making.

it is set in the mid of last century

the thing is, i have no idea how trainz will handle it, as you think

i would like not just the same 2 or 3 splines

individual houses there are plenty of

falcon500 made 3 low poly, but again
it means that there will only be the same looking sort

i am trying to keep this so that people with lower end pc can still play on it

any suggestions of what i can do?

thanks mate

Everyone seems to "understand TS2010 doesn't like splines from a performance point of view", I'm still waiting for somebody to stop understanding it and actually prove it.

The theory goes if you put a block of say 6 houses in the same mesh then you only get the overhead once. The six houses don't have to be touching.

Reskin the block a couple of times and that should give you some variety.

Can you point me at a few kuids and or some photos so I can get a better idea of what you're after?

Thanks John

I think there have been a number of posts were people have said replacing one or two splines has improved the frames per second with TS2009/10/12. I'm not a route builder and haven't run before and after tests but have a dig in the forum and see if we can pin it down more accurately.

Thanks John

hi leefer, john

they are no good to me

wrong country

it has to be qld houses, preferably south east qld, as that is where the route is set in

AUS House 1900's 1 looks nice but at 1,000 polys plus a nightmode .im and six textures its going to be not performance friendly for low end machines. Having said that scatter a dozen in and the performance hit shouldn't be that bad. There should be some more efficient items around. Look for windows that are just texture, the siding could be done with normal mapping but that is more difficult to do in GMAX. The veranda is difficult to do without using polys. Can you find me some images of simpler more modest buildings?

Falcon500 is still active so talk to him nicely and see if he could do an lod for you. That would help. Lods are worth doing if the drop is greater than 500 polys.

I'd be tempted to just build the route so it runs on your machine. If someone has a low end machine they can always swop in other kuids that are less demanding or set the sliders to the left.

thanks john

i sent him an email

will see what happens

i founs some more qld houses that the black dls did not show me last night

please email me and i will sent you some links

I have used Bill's "House 8" spline on both sides of the roads and behind them on the backing streets, and still get frame rates of mid 40's on Trs2010 so am quite pleased with them.
They can be stretched out "carefully" without looking out of scale.
And the high rise Buildings in the main drag I get mid 30's.
The same map run on 2012 on my laptop I get close to the same figures.
Norm.

Dreddmans splines are called
streettz shopz singlestreetz and streetz these are in TRS2004 "track"
Should have some low poly house rows finished by about the end of next week. These will be a row of 6 houses in various styles up to 1950's-60's.
Also some individual 1950's Queensland houses around 400 poly each. Most of the houses previously have attempted to keep to under 500 polys. The exception to this is the QLD and Aus 1900 houses which I thought deserved a bit of extra detail and a meant fo close to track placement. Probably will either make a lower poly similar style house or LOD version.
Cheers Will
