The next part of the railway from "nowhere to nowhere" has just been uploaded and should appear on the DLS soon.
Once again thanks to all content creators, to Dennis (DiRiCo) for his railway infrastructure diagrams and NSW Railnet for other general rail data. The AHRS publication Byways of Steam #18 was and is a valuable source for the Tweed Line.

Ive decided to include a couple of airport sites in the route for those who may want to add some air traffic to their copy. You will need to lay out your own air corridore though.

Next will be the Ballina branch , a short route both in distance and useful life.
Enjoy !

PG

PS: Built in TRS2006, works in 09 & 10!

Soon in Auran terms = :hehe:

With the way some people are going the Newcastle rail line may be history - but let's HOPE NOT.

Wonderful!

It's about time us Northerners get a few proto-ruotes to run around on. Lismore to Casino worked in '06, so can i assume this will too?

Matt.

Hi Peter,

Just downloaded Lismore to Byron Bay, excellent work. Many thanks for your efforts and time.

Now to merge it with Casino to Lismore :)

Pgibbons,

Just downloaded, and having a look at it now.

Had to laugh when i saw this:

Cheers for the hard work,

Matt.

Does the poor little Ballina Branch join onto this, or the Casino - Lismore part?
Look for the red markers mentioned in Peter Gibbon's post at http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=61706&highlight=ballina

They are part way between Byron Bay and Lismore, on the southern side. Match this with the red markers on the top end of the Ballina one.

Read the similar Murwillumbah thread for hints on merging. http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=63884&highlight=ballina

Of interest to those wanting to understand the rail traffic flow and the reasons for the two shipping jetties at Byron Bay. The northern jetty at A.W.Anderson & Co's meatworks [cattle size beasts] replaced the jetty in town after storm etc damage. Anderson's also had a whaling station next to their meatworks.

The other meatworks west of the Norco factory in the south end of town and joined to the Norco factory by that private tramway that crossed the standard gauge NSWGR tracks, was mainly used for pig size smallgoods processing by Norco. More about that pig processing works in the ARHS Bulletin Oct 1996 (Vol 47 No. 708) "A research report on the creamery tramway at Byron Bay" (Longworth, Jim) page: 295-298

Cheers

Is the track layout at Lismore, including the wharf, Norco and turntable areas, correct for the steam era? If it is correct than I count myself lucky as the only other Lismore diagram I can find on the net is the era after the removal of the turntable and other steam era infrastructure.

What moving/playable boats are people using on the tracks in the rivers at Ballina, Lismore and Murwillumbah? What is the name of the smoke generator behind the boat near the railway bridge at Lismore, please?

I am still amazed at the high level of correct detail on these northern NSW routes from PG as I am attempting the Tweed Heads Coolangatta steam era line myself and can not match PG's standards.

Take a look at this link for the October 1935 layout of Lismore and yards.

Thanks for the comments.
Ive always tried to build the various town railway infrastructure based on plans Ive requested from Dennis (DiRiCo) a fellow Trainz member who has a large library of NSW plans. I usually try to select the era where the infrastructure was at its most extensive but I acknowledge that I also use modern signals and speed signs so that actual era is up for debate.
People should feel free to change or swap items to suit whatever era they want to use and save as their own version.

My level of scenery is based on the view that its not much use putting a lot of effort in distant scenery which cant be comfortably seen from the Driver perspective. Also less detail also means less work for your PC in loading and running the Route. Again people can add extra scenery for their own use.

PS. The Grafton - Casino line is still under construction but taking a back-seat at the moment due to other priorities.

It was spooky today walking the Lismore yard around where the turntable would have been as it was very familiar from Trainz. The spooky bit was merging in my head the inter connection of the real life location and the simulated version. Where did reality stop and the game start....

Late edit; The other weird part was we have ridden an XPT in normal commercial service over the no longer in use tracks along which we were walking so it all seemed unreal.
