Wavy Lines on a Resksin?

I am working on reskinning Dave Snow's GP40-2w. I am adding chevron stripes to the nose and rear of the locomotive. The stripes are straight, but appear to be wavy when viewed in the Train Mesh Viewer.

Is this simply an optical illusion or a case of straight lines on a 2D representation of a 3D object?



If it's that latter, I have no clue on how I would fix it. I just would like to know for curiousity sake.

i am guesing the way it is mapped. i have not reskinned that mesh so cant say for certain though.
