The Illinois Railway Museum Route

Clarification:

I make basic items for folks who can not make them by themselves. I have absolutely no problem with others making a better version, no problem with folks substituting the new and better one for mine, and no problem with Matt mentioning the fact somneone is. Thats just part of being a content creator. I personally do not like making something that already exists on the DLS. I don't feel its fair to the original content creator since I have a pretty good idea how much work was involved but for others to do that including to my items - fine - more power to them.

I do not exclusivly make items for any invidivual or project though I do occasionally get heavily involved in a specific route. YVRR, KVRR, WP&Y, QCRR and the IRM for example (all small routes if you will notice). I've been making small items for the IRM of late since I have several large items underway or yet to make and like having a few small items on hand to made when I need a break from the large ones ( so Mattis not justfeeding me the leftovers, ha-ha).

Your trackwork is horrifically bumpy. No amount of custom content will fix the route without that being redone.
Guess that tag line is accurate. Work in progress means in progress. Not trying to be mean but people have really gotten on the "criticising train" here lately.

If it's with a reason, i guess people should accept it and try to improve the things beeing criticised, or at least ask themselves why there is critism. Thats how nearly everything in this world works and the reason that improvements are made, why should we exclude his route then?

And indeed, i dont wanna drive a train on those tracks...

Here is why I cant change the bumpy track at the moment, When I tried to fixed it with the Google Map Pieces still placed down.

As you can see by fixing the bumpy track now would cause the track to disappear under the google map assets making them un-viewable in certain areas, the downside of this will make editing the track work with reducing the amount of spline for example will make it very difficult to see if the track bends at all when I remove spline points on the track. This is the main reason that I've been explaining as well as others time and time again why I cant do anything with the track work until I remove the google map assets. But I need to finish placing down scenery first before I can remove them so for now the track has to remain un-editied for now.

Now time to to show off what I did today on the route. I decided that its time to fix some the massive amount of track spline points on the route today. Here are certain areas I fixed today.

The West End of the wye track by the 50th Avenue Station

Part of the East end of the wye track that is part of the trolley loop as well as some of the connecting tracks to Barn 4.

More editing done by this part of the trolley loop by the Riverview Billboard.

Now some track work is a bit more tough to edit by removing spline points. A good example is all the tight curved switches by Barns 2, 3, 6, 7, 8. The track work in these area's are really tight and complex so removing spine points is a bit tricky here but hopefully I can figure out a way how to reduce the amount in this area.

Thats all for todays progress. Until next time.... Stay tuned for the next update.

Oh and one more thing I would like to welcome our newest contributor to the project and that is BTVFD who has been working on 3 boxcar skins off of Dave Snows Waffle Sided Boxcars. He is still fixing up a few more minor details on these two and then once we get permission from Dave Snow we will release these to the DLS.

I know landrvr1 has Some cars from the Pioneer Zephyr on the DLS, So I was thinking If you were to edit these to make them for the Nebraska Zephyr It would save you some money ( the One car right behind the Loco Will be the hardest)

Hello Everyone I have good news and bad news. But first I would like to explain why there has been a bit of a quiet spell going on with my route. After my sisters wedding, I was a bit worn out but I also had to get ready for my first day volunteering at the Illinois Railway Museum in their steam department and I finally attended my first day being a volunteer last Saturday and I had a great time working on and cleaning 1630 getting it ready for its next set of runs. Now this means until October 28th I will be very busy.

First the Good News I did some more work on the route, It turns out I got a lot of the switches for the for the barns messed up and the track work near the switches as well. It has giving me the opportunity to fix up and get rid of some of those spline points. Yesterday I worked by Barns 10 and 11.

As well as this area where the future bridge over Boot Creek will go (It has been removed temporary due to fixing up the track work)

Here are some close ups of the route. (can you spot the new stuff that Bendorsey has made for the route)

Now onto the bad news... Yesterday when I was working on my route, I went to go add something to the area by Johnson siding and I discovered this....

I know for sure that before I transfer from SP1 to SP2, this was not like this when I last looked at the route before I moved to SP2. Don't worry, thankfully, I talking with Tony to see if there is way to fix this.

f3ff313a4be1f815b5f27d4da995a3c0.png

If all fails, don't worry thankfully it has only happened to 3 baseboards and its happened in an area that I can quickly fix up by asking my DEM guy to make 3 single baseboard DEM's of these areas and just fill them up with scenery again...(Thank god it did not happened near the museum or I would had been even more upset to put down all of that scenery and track work all over again). So until this problem is fixed I will have to halt all route progress until this is resolved.

One more thing. This just in and now being upload to the DLS is this C&NW Flat Car that is present at IRM in their collection. It has the number #55659. I would like thank content creator Majekear for making another great contribution to the project.

Hey Matt,

I want to know about Chicago L. Does 3rd track or wire pole?

NKP

Kind of depends on the era and the line. Currently it's all 3rd rail, but not to long ago the Yellow/Stokie Swift line was overhead. Back a long time ago more of the system was overhead power.

Are the CNS&M cars ready yet? I don't want to sound impatient, but I am very anxious for their release so I can create the CNS&M route.
