AMSTERDAM - A mission to put humans on Mars that drew 200,000 applicants has selected more than a thousand candidates who will now be tested to come up with a final list of 24 would-be Mars-dwellers.
Mars One was set up in 2011 by two Dutch men with the goal of establishing permanent human life on Mars in 2025. They hope the project will be funded by investors and the rights from the documentary-cum-reality TV broadcasting of the tests, training and final selection.


The 1,058 candidates who got through to the first round come from all over the world. By far the largest number - 297 - are American, followed by 75 Canadians and 62 Indians.They must now undergo rigorous tests, including simulations of life on Mars and coping with isolation, co-founder Bas Lansdorp said."The challenge with 200,000 applicants is separating those who we feel are physically and mentally adept to become human ambassadors on Mars from those who are obviously taking the mission much less seriously," Lansdorp said.

My Journey back into Trainz - Update #6

Good Afternoon Colonists ...

If you have read my Desert blog, you have noticed that the reconstruction of the desert is underway, with vast regions getting a major face-lift -- But, here comes an idea that I have had in mind -- Thanks to Don excellent Marsz items, it is only right to have a Carelton Rapids and Pottash industrial complex on my Desert Route, with a near by launching pad, with gates and guards -- Kind of top secret! LOL. See, Don's company is going to be the major supplier for all Marsz goods and services, including transport! LOL ---

So, although, Don's vehicle run on a maglev track, that is not a problem -- These tracks will have their present across the desert and linked up with rail tracks at huge storage facilities -- Where goods will be transfer to Don's Carelton Rapid and Pottash vehicles -- This will include hard military weaponry, etc... material .... the Carelton company will also export nuclear waste to Marsz, to be process there -- In my Desert route I have already a few nuclear facilities -- LOL!

The idea is to have Earth and Marsz linked, via using my Desert route ... Where one session ends, another begins! LOL Having the Carelton's company operate it all!

---At this time I am not creating anything, because my sole focus right now is getting my Desert route and all of the Marsz modules ready!!! Not sure how long, tho, but when I get back into creating I will focus on passenger enable stations, with invisible platforms -- With so many contents at the DLS, hard to believe there is no invisible passenger stations of 100 -300 meters long. And also create items to match Don's logo's etc, with his permission, of course! Thanks to Don's creation, no need to create a fantasy company, since he's Trainz world company exists -- LOL

Well, hope you guys agreed, and like the ideas!!!
I am certain that one day we will meet up, and play some trainz online, if you're into it!:wave:

Wow Ish, that sounds like a great idea for a route! Yes, yes. You may use my CRAP in any way you want. The only thing I ask is I furnish the painted engines. (pic1) Someone else tried painting for the Carelton Rapids and It just wasn’t the way I would do it. I do have a large assortment of stuff already painted that I can post.

Passenger enable stations is something I’ve been working on and I have a bunch of different sizes but none of them are finished. (pic2).
Just the plane building with no cool graphics or lighting yet. Boring! Most are for underground use. I also have a container loader/unloaded for my container train I should post.

What I would like to see is a all on Marsz group effort on a mega route to use for multiplayer like the “UMR” but on Marsz.

Here’s a little something I’ve been working on too. On Earth that is. I’m trying to make the blast furnaces interactive but I’m having a little difficulty with the scripting. If anyone that reads this wants to give me a hand with the script. That would be great.

First, thank you for your permission, sir! I always ask, regardless, to knowledge and respect to the original creator -- Plus, it's the right thing to do!


Second, of course, take your time painting those beauties! Whenever you are done please let me know, regardless how long it takes you! WHY? Down the road thinking of taking a video clip of my Desert route, for showcase, LOL ... And I'll use your Carelton Rapids trainz cars for that.

Third, Excellent on those passenger enable stations -- Have you made any with invisible platforms to be use with any stations (for Earth base routes)? -- Just curious!

Fourth, huge fan of underground contents -- In fact, I built a complete underground system, with over 300 pieces, a long time ago -- I never did upload it, and just put it side! With that said, that's one focus I wanted to always improve on Marsz -- Underground activities on a grand scale! The problem is how N3V changed the scripting --- T12 refused to recognized the old ways (from T10 scripting) ... so trainz crashed -- I fix this, but the pole holes across the grid became a problem when each value was increased, so it became impossible to have large regions underground (snap-on) -- For example, have you see my reservoirs items which uses this same set up? -- my idea was to have everything underground, with specific areas expose with a glass window just above ground ... this is where the lack of weather patterns comes into play! For the new era of trainz I voted for weather~ Maybe we get that sand stormed I have wished for on Marsz for a long time.

Lastly, that has been my goal, forever -- To have a group of guys taken control of all sorts of vehicles on Marsz, and get to their destinations -- Via Multi-player. -- We'll get there, eventually!

Hello Marszlings,

Have you seen my tunnel stuff. This pic. shows some of the things on the DSL. Tunnel ends (the boxs with doors) and tunnel track. The track is shaped as a tunnel so its benndy and straightens as a track. You take the tracks and stretch them between the the tunnel ends. The ends are in two door and four door and would act as a airlock to seal your under ground areas. They snap to grid so setup of straight tunnels is a breeze. The track is open on one side so you well need to drag them in opposite directions. The tunnel ends don't have "dig holes" in them so a 2x2 in the side of the hill is up to you.

You are going to want to check out my signal system! It's for uses on the maglev track and it works great! It uses Jointed Rail Smart Signal library script so if you know how to use and place JR's signals. These will be a breeze.

Hello Don

Awesome work on your latest contents. Dl'd the signals today and
found that the interlocking 08 is missing dependency 387111:101108.
CM cannot locate it and I did a manual search of the DLS with negative
results.

Good Morning Colonists,

I have landed on Marsz and what a week I have had. It's been busy. Activities flourishing instantly. Ideas coming and going. I am happy to announcement Marsz, New Horizons ... A layout of the Red Planet designed and created by Carelton Rapids and Pottash company! In other words, Don49plm created an incredible Marsz layout that stretches endlessly for miles /km. The layout is 48mb big, and with my extra touch that number has climbed. For example, (screen shot below) is Scoria Base, which I constructed, along with triggers and markers for the session development. I have been doing research, ex, playing with sessions to get a feel. Html pages have been set for future sessions, getting that right design. The only draw back is that trainz runs on a 32bit system, where as TANE will run on a 64bit platform, which is what I have here.

Thanks to Don we have save many many months, since the layout is done. All that is needed is a polish touch, which is what I am doing. Oh, yeah, did I mentioned the route contains endless of tunnels too. But that's another conversation for another day. Thank you Don to putting time and effect for creating such a wonderul Marsz route. I am given praise to Don, because the route is really huge, and I could only imagine how long he's been working on it.

Now, I have uploaded a couple of new items and updated a few items that had errors to work under 2.9 ... view list below -- They are not at the DLS yet, but should be there sometime today, if the DLS runs on schedule!

Thank you fot holding on, since I rarely update --- But it will be worth at the end, especially that TANE is in the horizon, with Marsz, and this layout that Don put together is designed perfectly to be run from a 64bit, so it can take advantage of the full memory capacity of a PC.
