A picture is worth a thousand words... So why don't I post a few to save me the trouble of an elaborate start to this thread?

For this being my FIRST ever desert-ish route, I must say it is pretty decent... I am happy with the vegetation and texture choices, but this will be one hell of a learning experience... So you never know, things might change...

Looking very nice, me likey. Are you intending to release said route? Looks like I could learn a thing or two from you as I'm modeling a similar region.

Cheerio,
Nicholas

Like I said, I still have quite a bit to learn myself. I have never done a desert route... I still have quite a bit more to go before it even reaches the Beta stage. However, with the progress I have made in two days, it looks like I will actually end up releasing it... Some day...

@PBY357

This is a completely fictional route BASED in Nor/SoCal. I may take long haul passenger trains over the pass, but I really see no need for a regular commuter service.

Those are some seriously good looking screenshots.

Hope you don't use (much) 3rd party content as I would love to drive on that route if it ever becomes public.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks, Oknotsen! I just realized how much 3rd party stuff I am using already... With this, I think I should try to do an installation similar to the Quahog Sub, just to make it a lot easier on everybody.

@Erik, Matt:

Thanks guys!

More progress on the route this evening... I finally started hitting 1%+ grades. I decided to put a small yard in the next town for a local base of operations for the smaller trains... Also thinking of putting in an Amtrak station here...

Also, changed out the bridges to something more realistic.

Blake, your shots have taken my breath away, to give me and my special friend a name in this means so much to me. I remember when this route was just a DEM, I never expected it to go this far. Sir I must salute you it is a lot better than I ever will have the patience for.

@Nicky9499

I think this route is progressing very well, but I don't think I meet "Dermmy" standards. I appreciate your kind words, nonetheless. :)

@817TAYLOR

Thank you for your oh so kind and sincere words. :)

I made some very slight improvements to the route...

Oh hey, I did make an Amtrak Depot!
