Trainz: A New Error
Last edited:
Hello everyone,

I've searched these forums high and low and try as I may I cannot find my original post on this issue so I thought I'd create a new topic. As you can see in the screenshots below I'm missing some ground textures that CMP isn't picking up. Does anyone know where I can find these missing textures?

Near Cres Coal 1

Spruce Lumber

Thanks,

The first texture near Cresap Coal is 'M H Feld 9', kuid 200726 21015.

The second texture at Spruce Lumber is 'Bowrock5', kuid 41426 21134.

Both of these textures are on the DLS, but as you said, CMP is not picking them up. Be sure to tick all of the boxes as the Bowrock texture is an old one.

Hello all
First I hate to bump an older thread but I am missing a texture.

This is around the Webster Springs WV. area.
Thanks for any help.

Kenny...

I think this is the texture your missing.

stream_4,<kuid2:33404:5012687:2>

That is a dmdrake texture.

Not sure if it's on the DLS.

Yes that is correct, and it's on the DLS along with all of the above missing textures. For some reason CMP is unable to find them.

it's a known bug. CMP can't find them because they aren't written into the route's kuid table...

I did a search of the kuid table in the config.txt for Stream4 (kuid2:33404:5012687:2), and it's in there. I'm wondering if the previous missing kuids are also in there. This has been a problem ever since I loaded the route to my site.

OK - I stand corrected! But just to flog this possibly dead horse a little further are you sure the kuid table you are checking is the same as the kuid table in the released version of the route? The ground textures that get listed and don't get listed changes every ime you save. In my experience if a route installed on a 3rd party machine has no missing content but lacks ground texture in an area where the route does in fact have texture, it is always 'the bug'.

If the kuid table of the released route does include that kuid then it must show as 'missing DLS content' on the 3rd party install - it's the kuid table that generates the missing content report. To take it a step further - if the kuid table for the route on the 3rd party install does include that kuid, and CM is not reporting it as missing DLS content, you have identified yet another bug....

Each time I release a route, I move a copy of the original route to a separate folder, and upload it from there. That way I know exactly what's in the route. There are four missing textures referenced above. They are as follows: field2 (kuid68787:21672); field3 (kuid68787:21673); field12 (kuid68787:21682); and field11 (kuid68787:21681
, all by lotharhake. They are all missing from the config.txt kuid table. It seems to me that there was a problem with some of lotharhake's content a few years ago. If you updated certain content, it came back as something totally different than the original. I wonder if that could be the reason why the content is missing. Just a guess.

Joe

Pretty sure the lotharhake mix-up is not connected, though I do notice some textures for some reason do get 'missed' more than others. Lotharhakes are deffinitely on the 'likely to be missed' list. Dave Drake's 'Stream' textures are aother series that are more often 'missed' than not.

The lotharhake thing was simply a content creator putting updated texture images in the wrong asset. I don't use his textures much any more for that reason - if somebody has a different revision than mine they get rocks where I had grass or whatever. Shame really, because they are nice textures.

This is getting old.(not directed at jrfolco)

Hyndman Crossing

Cooksmill.
Thanks for the help.
Jrfolco, If you could list all the kuids in the config file of the map file you have. We could use that instead of constantly post about what is missing because TS12 cannot find the content correctly.

Kenny...

Just to head a problem off at the pass... you might have a bridge missing at 'Indian Creek'.

I used MB-arch_bridge_rail_skew_L10_stone,<kuid:35412:38187>
to solve that problem.

Following is a list of the environmental textures used on the route. For some reason, the last five are missing from the config.txt Kuid table. This seems to be the cause of the missing textures. I apologize for the inconvenience, but unfortunately, I have no control over it.

If you find any other missing content other than what's listed below, please reference them in this thread, and I'll correct them for you.

GP30Fan, Thanks for your input.

Actually you do. Before releasing a route you should import it into a clean install of Trainz - that's an install with nothing but built-in content, patched up to whatever version the route was created in. Download and install all DLS and 3rd party content till the route shows nothing missing. Next you manually scour the route looking for untextured areas, identify the 'missing' texture and manually add it to the route config. Repeat the last step till no texture is missing. This must be done after the last save of the route prior to release, because the individual textures that get ommitted from the config will change every save.

It's a right royal pain in the whatzit sorting it out - and it's a bug that absolutely beyond all doubt should have been patched - but it can be fixed by the route builder prior to release...

OK, I added the five missing kuids to the kuid table in the config.txt. I then uploaded the route to my site, and re-downloaded it. I checked the kuid table, and the five missing kuids were still there. Hopefully, that will solve the problem.

A previous post in this thread showed a missing texture called Stream_4 (kuid2:33404:5012687:2). This kuid is in the kuid table, but still showed up missing.

Before uploading a new route I always do install it on a clean install of Trainz to check for missing content that is not on the DLS, or doesn't have a third party specific location that I've provided on the route page. Until this thread, I was not aware that the missing textures (or other content) were caused by missing kuids in the kuid table. Something to look forward on my next route. Thanks for the info.
