Windy City Roll Call

well I'll be in the windy city next weekend.....sadly I'll be busy the whole time so no rail fanning :( If one wants to meet me, I'll be going to the 1st Unitarian Church (in Hyde Park) Sunday.

personally think it's insane that Chicago is, like the MAJOR railroad interchange in the country, and yet so little of it has been modeled for Trainz! Isn't it time we all got together and made a group to change this?

Ed, that's like, my Trainz mantra... :o

Well I think I'll bump this again as more people join our wonderful community.

Also Chicagoladers; After having some talks with a couple of my pals here I'm thinking about trying to start a group of creators to work together to try and make some Chicago area stuff. If this would interest you please do not hesitate to contact me!

Born and raised on the southside lived up and down 35st and know the rails pretty well........
Ive been workin on a Chicago Trainz route for over a year all track laid
scenery about 50% (downsized also actual size route wouldnt probably even open up...) Also did a midsize branch line route called INRY (based on a south side branch line)which I shouldve held off on uploading also a revised version workin on....and a bug message Ive been trying to fix which strangely enough it s a same kind ya get from a mfx error (trs2006 sp1)
looking for a coal kuid?
Oddly enough theyre isnt a dang car on the route for this error to show?
I am assuming a crash in a test with a car associated with a mfx file created it.......

WINDY CITY

Da Blues town.

Lived in almost all of Chicago suburbs.
Retired now in Beautiful Colorado Rockies.

I could draw a map of most roads and railroads in and around Chicago.

I am considering modeling the Rock Island, from Lasalle street station
to Joliet.

Doing the C&NW and the Milwaukee Road could be great additions.

Most of the Milwaukee yards and roundhouse were demolished when they
put up the new stadium but there are plenty of records available.

How about adding the Indian Harbor belt line. I lost half of my life
while waiting for them to pass across Western Avenue.

Are google maps reliable for TRAIN ROUTES ?

What routes would you model in da windy city ?

Sorry to bump this, but I just realized that I never posted in this thread. Since I am in the requirements, my Hometown is Wood Dale, IL. Approx. 19 Miles from Union Station on the Milwaukee District West Line...and like right next to the Bensenville Yard. Currently, my project for that line is on hold, doing research on Bensenville Track Layouts.

South side boy here. Grew up off of Archer and Damen Aves. "Toity Toid and the Tracks" we called it. Literally had the Illinois Central running through my back yard. Took me a full year to learn how to sleep WITHOUT heavy coal drags pounding through my head at night after I left.

Now living in NW Indiana. Not hard to find, drive 80 miles SW, fourth cornfield on the left, that's me. Miss Chicago though and the trains.

As a consolation prize I have this running in my backyard now.

Spent all weekend chasing Nickel Plate #765 around. Have about an hours worth of video to edit.

Dave...

You want a Chicago route?

What about the Chicago Tunnel Company. Unique to that city, part of its heritage and existing in model form already, just needs an interested body to continue the project. I guess that as Jim, Bill and I spent a year on it, that makes us honorary Chicagoans even though we were buried 40 feet down in the blue clay.

mmm Amsterdam is called the Windy City in international air traffic circles... bah, I'm just outside Amsterdam! :hehe:

Tiger, you don't have the system requirements to post in this thread. :hehe:

Oops neither do I! :o

Sorry, Ed.

What about the Chicago Tunnel Company.

I always thought that was about the most obscure, far fetched idea for a Trainz Route possible. I can understand why you guys lost interest in it. I spent many years in downtown Chicago in a construction union and have worked in many of the sub-basements that used to connect to the tunnel system, and never found it to be interesting, even then.

But that's just my opinion.

I was born in Chicago and lived there for a few years. I now live in Colorado, but hope to go to college in Chicago and move back afterwards. I would like to see some L cars made, preferably the 6000, 2000, 2200, and 2400 series cars.

I live in the Chicagoland area in Gary, Indiana. Speaking technically I don't live in Illinois but I do live in the Chicago-Gary Metropolitan Area.

Now remember Ed IRM has some of the equipment used that actually made that tunnel system.
