Windy City Roll Call

No Friend requests please
I'd like to establish who, on these forums, lives in the greater Chicagoland area. If this describes you, please post here.

If you do not live in the greater Chicagoland area, please do not post in this thread....and for that I thank you.

My mom used to live in detroit. Do i count?

There is a world of difference between the Motor City and the Windy City, so putting your obvious creative talent aside.....I have to say "no". Thanks for asking.

Please, if you do not currently live in the Chicago area, do not post to this thread.

Thank you.

Ed

um Ed you already know about me.

Don't forget there are like a dozen more I can think of.

Ed,
But isn't it nice to have confirmation of your memory bank ? ;)
Sorry, I know I am not supposed to post here !

I'm not far from Belmont, Central, 80 and 30, the Loop, and Northwest Highway; nearby municipalities include Addison, Highland Park, Plano, University Park, and Westlake. I used to work for the Rock Island downtown, and until recently I could even buy a decent Vienna Italian beef sandwich on Gonnella bread within a couple blocks of my residence.
So, even though others might not agree, as far as I'm concerned I live in the "Greater Chicagoland Area", even if others don't agree that Dallas is one of the "Far Southwest Suburbs".

I know you said for non chicagolanders to post here. but I consider myself to be one even though I live closer to the motor city. If there is something big (railfan/trainzer) wise going down in CHI I try and get there.

Well, you know the greater Chicagoland area stretches from the Wisconsin border down into Indiana, and West almost to Rockford!

The reason I asked residents to post here, is because I personally think it's insane that Chicago is, like the MAJOR railroad interchange in the country, and yet so little of it has been modeled for Trainz! Isn't it time we all got together and made a group to change this?

Ed

Thought that might be where you were taking this, and I agree that there should be more U.S. trackage represented, even more Chicago trackage. But there are people who would be interested in participating in such a group who do not live in what you are defining the "greater Chicagoland area". You don't have to live within any specified distance of the loop to appreciate, or even model trackage near it.

Well if people wish i for a long time had been muddling over plans for building downtown Chicago, and I currently have them divided up by station; if people wanted I could start 'issuing' parts of the area off to different people who would want to work on building up "their" area. and after a while pushing them all together into one big map. When I get my laptop back and can tell you guys how big each section is and where each border is.

Name the time and place to get together I tried to get someting like this setup two or three years ago.

When it comes to talking about Trainz, Crown Point is only a hop and a skip away.

I live in a small suburb north of city, not far from the Highwood Ave station on the North Shore Line. Oh wait, that station has been abandoned for awhile...

Born and raised on the South Side near 55th & Kedzie. Now live out in West Dundee which is near Elgin.

I remember in the mid-70's taking the South Shore & South Bend line out to Hudson Lake IN when they still used the old orange 1930's passenger cars.

Huge fan of C&NW, WC, MILW Road, CSS&SB, WSOR and E&LS.
